Out of all the weird shows watched on my list, School Days is honestly impressive in how bad it is.
Cheating isn't just common in this show, it's basically the entire plot. Everyone cheats on everyone, everyone knows it's happening and somehow it doesn't really phase anyone, it's blatantly happening in front of their eyes. People get mad for like five seconds and then immediately help the cheating continue. No one has accountability, no one has a brain cell and everyone in this show is insanely stupid.
The main character is one of the most frustrating leads I have ever seen. He can't make a single decision right. The female leads in this show are treated like sex-dolls and the main character follows along like a pervert. Here is how things go in this show:
"I want to help you with your relationship, let's bang while we are at it."
"You should not cheat in your relationship, unless it's with me."
The main character floats from girl to girl, saying yes to whoever is in front of him or whoever let's him bang her. He doesn't grow. He doesn't learn and he never owns up to anything. Things just happen around him and he goes along with it. Calling it a love triangle wouldn't even make sense this is not a love triangle this is a love hexagon or something.
And the girls? Horribly written. Every single one of them. Not a single decision they make feels like something a real person would do. They constantly forgive the unforgivable, throw away any self-respect they have, and make choices that only exist to push the plot towards more cheating. It's like the show actively avoids logic at all costs.
The show gets repetitive. Every episode starts to feel the same, someone cheats, someone finds out, there's a fake emotional talk, and then nothing changes. The show keeps looping on the cheating part over and over again. The things happening can't even be confused with seriousness at all because not a single thing done actually makes sense.
What makes it worse is that the anime wants it to be taken seriously. It acts like this deep, messy relationship drama, when in reality it's just bad writing pretending to be mature. Instead of feeling emotional or shocking it's just exhausting and really annoying to watch. it looks like it wants credit for being dark and mature, but all it's doing is showing people making awful decisions all over again.
At the end you're not angry because it's tragic or sad but just because you wasted your time on watching this show. The end isn't edgy or anything it's just stupid and just bad writing. There are so many better ways to spend a few hours than watching people make the worst possible decisions ever over and over again. Trust me, by the end you're not shocked or sad you're just wondering why you didn't drop it earlier.
