For one thing, the characters and graphics look way too rounded for wanting to be a family friendly movie targeting kids when it lacks the sharper visual details from the CGI cutscenes of Sonic Unleashed. And that gives it the untenable budget of any kids TV show especially for the plane that the Dream Animals fly in when they do touring!
The human characters look like rejects from the Postman Pat franchise! How can Marza animation planet abandon the Pixar look of the human characters for Sonic Unleashed in favour of bodies and faces resembling Stone Age Play-Doh along with hair looking like frozen astroturf?!?!
How can anyone in Japan approve a movie in which Madagascar has crashed into the J-pop industry while being conceived from a biscuit product?
The origin story within the movie is that a shooting star which happened to be a huge chunk of rock candy struck into a mountain called Mount Canele (which is the name of a French custard) and caused sugar to erupt out of the volcano which in turn made it the inciting incident for popular cartoon characters inspired by the sweets upon consumption of said sweets... What are viewers meant to get out of this inconceivable twist?
The audience in the opening scene are too hyped up to see the lion and Pegasus crashed into the screen thanks to the alligator's faulty wings prop he crafted for the lion!
Who asked for an elephant character whose major hobby is reading murder mystery novels? Particularly when you look hard at the title that he's reading which happens to be "Murder At The Zoo". At this point, the elephant character is just begging for extinction!
After the opening scene, the lion character is upset over the Pegasus staging him since she can fly so he proposes to the elephant of outshining the Pegasus with suggestions like breathing fire and laser beams out of his eyes before the elephant proposes that the lion be like Spider-Man. How can any Marza Planet executive look at that in the script and think out loud to the voice actors: "Nope, this doesn't need any more further improvement! Here's your cheque for x amount of yen so you can go animate!" How did this happen last year? And how can I go through that progress and no one within Marza Planet's hallways sit down and say: "You know something? That's a dumb gesture that doesn't contribute anything to the script we've written. Can't we just delete it?"
The next scene I remember best is the monkey getting drunk over his girlfriend having dumped him and drinking Chanmerry (which happens to be non-alcoholic) but still doesn't explain his alcoholic behaviour…
But of course, the ending has to be the very scene that proves that they don't know a single iota of how to perfectly wrap up a resolution... because it turns out the wings that Pegasus has were actually hydraulics crafted by the crocodile before she gets hoisted up into the air without any wings by an aircraft carrying her off!
