Introduction: Demon Slayer is the next gen of anime, a great shounen that got a godly adaption. Demon Slayers rise to popularity got a lot of people into anime, several of my friends got into anime by watching demon slayer. At this point in time, anime has become very mainstream. I went to Barnes and Nobles the other week and since its been months since I've been there, they had to relocate their manga section because it was in such high demand. Demon Slayer Mugen Train is the #1 top grossing movie in Japan and has accumulated about 40.13 billion yen at this point since its release. Anyway, I’ll let you know beforehand, right after I watched the demon slayer anime, I read the manga and while this movie is good, it's heavily forgotten in the manga and I’ll go into the later sections of the review, please enjoy!

Story: It's Demon Slayer, what do you expect? I will not proceed to retract that statement because I love Demon Slayer and this anime shows how having a simple plot can attract millions of fans. As I said in the title this review will contain spoilers, now let's go into that. In the manga the Mugen Train arc was 17 chapters and it was adapted into 1 hour and 57 minutes, that's good, that's more than enough time to cover these chapters so there's no general pacing issues during this movie. During this movie, the main cast of characters meet up with Rengoku on the infinity Train in pursuit of Tanjirou’s quest of learning more about the Hinokami Kagura. The train is filled with Demons, they slay the demons, 10/10 good movie. Ok I will now get into what I really wanna talk about. Demon Slayer tackles a tragic story line, where the main party ultimately defeats Enmu, Rengoku is killed by Akaza. (I think it's really funny how this is just one of the first tragic arcs, fans of this series don't know what they're getting into with later arcs.) In the manga, yes this death is very sad, you really thought rengoku had some hope but then is just absolutely crushed by Akaza. Now narratively speaking, I think this is good, Tanjirou’s only real master in the art of fire breathing was taken away from him, but Rengoku tells Tanjirou to go to his household where the previous Fire Pillar lives. Then Rengoku dies and the credits roll in. The movie was very good, I really have no complaints and for a story that sticks true to the manga, it's good. In saying that, the Demon Slayer Mugen Train Movie is hyped up to be one of the best anime of recent times and while I don’t believe that, it's still very good. Now my complaints for this. This movie is taken right from the manga and if Ufotable didn’t do such a good job with the godly animation, this anime wouldn’t be as hyped up, nor would the demon slayer anime. This movie was incredibly hyped up but in reality, the animation carried it towards its extreme popularity.

Characters: Nothing too major to speak about here. While Rengoku is a finely written character, that's about it. Rengoku’s death is honestly the biggest peak in his character. Now for reference my favorite character is Mitsuri, yes the character that has been shown twice. I swear she’ll get more screen time in the later seasons. The rest of the party is fine, Enmu in my opinion is quite an underwhelming villain and I still think that Akaza showing up randomly was a bit odd. Akaza in later arcs will get character development but not yet. Overall, the cast of characters is quite simple for a simple plot.

Art: Absolutely stunning. Ufotable again did a wonderful job with the animation, truly beautiful. Ufotable also does the FATE series and as we all know, the animation for that series is godly. The Animation for this movie carries, while the actual movie itself is good, this really gives it the giant push to popularity and it really shows.

Overall Enjoyment: I watched this movie with a group of friends, it was really funny to see their faces when Rengoku is killed, I’m a great friend you can ask them yourselves. Mugen Train is a wonderful movie with a twist that everyone did not expect. I’m honestly really happy that Mugen Train is this popular because I’ve started noticing that anime is becoming a lot more mainstream then it was in the past. This gets me really excited to think about how fans are gonna take later arcs, again this movie is great but heavily carried by animation.
