We all recognize Among Us as one of the greatest games of 2019. It revolutionized anime as a whole. But is the manga Among Us actually deemed worthy as the game itself? The asnwer is... yes. The long answer?
Among Us is one of the strangest manga of 2019... I do not know why some dude decided to make an adaptation of the game with one of the thirstiest fans in history. (Have you seen the copypasta and the r34?!) But, Among Us manga is a blessing. But even if Among Us manga is good... it still has its flaws.
The plot of Among Us is expected to be one of the greatest mangas of 2019... but unfortunately, the plot was not to be expected. Many people lost friendships over Among Us... but the manga did not exactly manage to capture the greatness that is Among Us. There was a lack of suffering and perspective. Among Us should be one of the most trauamatic stories, yet it presents itself as a comedy! But this is merely what I expected. Among Us manga is great. It's a good comedy. No, it's a comedy that beats Violet Evergarden in putting you in tears.
Among Us... truly is... good. But regardless of how good Among Us is... the lack of perspective was a flaw. We only got to see the impostor's and random side characters. They were barely able to be fleshed out, but that doesn't matter if the cast is cool. But a cool cast needs a lot of screen time. We needed to see everyone's perspective as a ghost. And to be honest... the impostor is a pretty poorly written villain. His motives... were a bit disappointing. You do not go around killing people just to spice your life. He was barely intimidating. But, he was a cinammon roll. A loveable villain. Even though he was a bit... mediocre in the villain-y writing. Perhaps he should've decided to become a crewmate?
The art was good. It captured the essence of Among Us. I'm glad there was no cursed r34 art. No usage of the cancerous phrase, "sussy baka". Jokes aside, we have to acknowledge how genuinely decently written this manga is. Like, geez.
Going into Among Us Manga blind, is worth it. For one of the greatest plot twists of 2019... the fact that it wasn't a thriller but a comedy. And the fact the impostor was a bit... cute. Relatable, if you will.
But what defines Among Us? Is it freedom? Is it a masterpiece that changes the entire world? No, Among Us is a story that you just want to chill with for several generations. While the manga wasn't exactly faithful to the game, it may have even been extra faithful, considering they put in players, rather than inserting a plot. But either way, Among us could've been one of the greatest manga. A thriller version of Among Us, with foreshadowing is enough to make it substantially great.
TL;DR
Among Us is truly a decent read. Do not expect plot. Expect something to take your mind off from a bad day. It's actually wholesome. Now, it is good.
