It's not often that you find an anime that's so mind-bogglingly stupid that you can actually feel your brain cells dying in real-time.

The characters are one-dimensional, the writing is terrible and it somehow manages to get worse every single episode. The main character is Kirito but he's also a fucking psychopath, yet the writers never fully commit to that idea and always come up with some convoluted way to keep him from going over the edge. The supporting cast are also mostly insane with a few exceptions and they range from okay to some of the worst characters I've seen in this medium. As for the games themselves, they're mostly fine but can be exploited in various ways, which seems to be the writers' intention yet I can't help but roll my eyes at some of the ways Yuuichi (the protagonist) manages to break the games. Did I also mention that there are also some background characters that narrate the games? They're mostly unnecessary and they seem to exist only for the purpose of depicting the main band of friends as underdogs. I find them annoying and I assume most people do. The show also relies a lot on overdramatic cliffhangers which I wouldn't have minded as much if they toned them down a bit because they feel kinda cheap.

The OP and ED are fine but I wouldn't really go out of the way to listen to them again. Some people complained about the animation but I think it's fine, I was focusing on the show's more glaring issues anyways.

You might be wondering why exactly I gave it a 1/10 and that's exactly because of how terrible the plot is but I won't really go into detail on that. Just watch an episode if you're really curious (preferably while being intoxicated as it would enhance the experience and perhaps make it bearable) and you'll be able to grasp what kind of show this is.

To this very day, I still don't understand why they'd all agree to share the debt in the first episode. Actually I technically do but "muh friendship" is such a stupid excuse. Couldn't the writers think of anything better?

But yeah, I still don't get what people see in this anime. I only finished it out of sheer curiosity. I had 5 brain cells going into this and now I have like 2 (I think that's like half, I don't know anymore). That's still more than the combined total of

Or even better, just watch Squid Game (let's be real, every single person on this planet has already seen it) because it's a pretty decent show. Anyways, I spent like 40 minutes writing this review (which is 40 minutes too many) so I should stop rambling and just go to bed.

In conclusion, you'd probably be better off just hitting yourself in the groin continuously for several hours than watching this. Tomodachi Game bad, goodnight.
