I just want to say i never write reviews but the bad taste this show left me made me want to publish a review.
No hate this is my honest opinion of the show.
Few Spoilers
PLOT- the plot started out quite interesting taking a path that most isekais avoid and that is having the main character be an outcast in the false world, this was interesting for an episode or two until it felt as though they had to mention his hardships every 5 minutes. The beginning also sets up a lot of unanswered questions that make you interested in the world but yet again after the first few episodes seem unimportant to the plot and are do not feel as though they are worth the pay off. The shield also showed promise in the beginning as a tool that he would have to learn to use to protect his party rather than attack, this changes suddenly when it is decided the main character will do the one thing the show states he cant and attack his opponents. The shield then turns into armour that is obviously a cheap copy of the berserker armour with blood spewing everywhere, this was unneeded and felt like a complete rip off in an attempt for a cool powerup.
I also want to add here the plot of the princess accusing the main character of rape was interesting at the start but got annoying and even extremely stupid when the comeuppance of her accusations was that she would be called a childish nickname. For such a mature theme it was handled as though a child had wrote it and felt extremely cheap and unnecessary.

CHARACTERS- The 4 main cardinal heroes are mostly unlikeable and feel needlessly stupid as they don't bother explaining things to one another and are instead horrible to each other. The main cast of characters seem to be uninteresting and have any real goals as all of the girls in the party want to do whatever the main character is doing which makes them feel extremely boring. There is a slight glimmer of hope through Naofumi and Raphtalia however, as the screen time they share in few select seems actually draws the watcher in and engage with the show although these scenes are very few and far apart . The princess who is the main villain for the majority of this season feels extremely petty and would be better written out of the show entirely.
Overall the character are uninteresting and most are annoying with no real drive or purpose within the show.

Other points-

1. Animation- the animation is fine nothing too special but still is pleasant during the fights.
2. Music- the music in this show is actually quite impressive with it helping heighten fighting scenes or even as general bgm

In Conclusion i would say it is a show that tries to be edgy and on the mature side of anime however it fails and instead feels as though a child decided to write a lot of the conclusions to plot points.
