Violet Evergarden is the most beautiful anime I have watched this year, on several occasions did i find myself crying especially through episodes 8-10 as these episodes are packed full of heart felt raw emotion and sympathy for Violet. (I will try keep this spoiler free)
I would like to talk about how absolutely stunning the animation was, not once was I not in awe by how breath taken it was, Studio Ghibli would be breaking a sweat if they saw the animation this anime had, the style was amazing, the water was so real AND THE DESIGNS! Wow! All contributed to really feeling the characters!

Violet is an ex war hero who is as we first see her struggling to be an Autos Memory Doll for her ex Majors friend who now owns a Auto Memory Dolls company Lieutenant Hodgins. We see Violet go from being described as emotionless to showing multiple raw emotions throughout the series as she meets and helps people write letters (mainly about love) as she tries to understand what love is herself. She finds out love can be expressed in many ways such as love for siblings, family and romance. She became an Auto Memory Doll as her Major told her he loves her and she is on a mission to understand what he meant by that as she is unable to understand some emotions.
The characters are written beautifully in this series, many characters we see are only in for one episode or so as side characters for Violet to write letters for but every single one of them are just filled with personality and thought, each character have their own inner conflict and troubles that they are going through and meeting Violet and seeing her express her own conflict and seeing how she is on a mission to face it head on has inspired each and every one of them and we see how Violet has impacted the lives of so many people on her mission to understand love and what it means.

I have never been one to cry at media (unless its some type of animal death) but as I stated previously episodes 8-10 had me tear up on three separate occasions as we see a lot of Violets War trauma and in episode 10 I WASNT EVEN CRYING OVER VIOLET IT WAS ONE OF THE ONCE OF SIDE CHARACTERS! This show does not hold back in writing every single character to the best of its ability! This series is so emotionally driven and does not hold back in throwing the audience for an emotional loop!

This is a series that is so different in terms of story and style, I really dont think it can fit into any generic box and I cant recommend it enough, if you havent watched this series WHAT ARE YA DOING!?
