As a guy who loves Saiki K and One Punch Man, this series sounded like it would be a fantastic time. The concept of a monotone guy with immense power and a group of entertaining friends who can overcome anything with sheer will is a lot of fun. It SHOULD be a lot of fun, anyway. I wanted so badly to like this series, but a couple episodes in I started to get bored, and by the end I was absolutely frustrated. (This could contain spoilers, but I try to stay vague. )

What I liked about it:
The concept of a world is a very compelling one. I instantly sympathize with Mash and his father and their struggle, and have lots of questions I hope to be answered in the series.
I thought the character designs were pretty cute. Not the most earth shattering, but recognizable and look good together in a group.
The animation was nice!! Everything looked nice, The impacts felt solid, the name card bit was fun.
I also thought the voice acting in the comedic bits was nice!
What I didn’t like about it:
Even though the main premise for the world is compelling, the series doesn’t seem to take much interest in filling out the rest. When it comes to world building, anything that isn’t stolen from Harry Potter has absolute minimum thought put into it, and usually thrown in once to excuse a win condition, never to be seen again.
The writing is extremely dull and repetitious. I don’t think there was a single fight in which some iteration of “You're too weak. I would never lose to someone like you!” and “I can't believe I lost to someone like you!” doesn’t bookend a rather boring altercation of pointing lasers back and forth with a hip-hop beat in the background.. “Someone like you” being 1 dimensional villain slang for not being rich or from ~~Slytherin~~ Lang. The other characters that make up the protagonist's friend group are nearly as uninteresting. Guy who cries a lot, girl who simps a lot, guy who gets mad a lot, and guy who has a thing for his little sister.
I wish some of these fights were cropped out to leave space for some more interactions between the cast in order to develop them, or a deeper look into the world that they live in, so I would care more about anything. The pacing was so bizarre in that even in the couple minutes that could've been spent for character interaction, its spent on wordless gags or travelling to the next place to fight the same fight over and over.
Conclusion:
Ultimately, it’s a great concept and there's a couple sensible chuckles in there, but I wouldn’t suggest it. I’d be interested in checking out the manga to see if this anime was just a victim of a boring adaptation.
PS. Did Finn do a single damn thing this season?
