Rewatched the first 24 episodes and I’ve gotta say, the dub’s good. I liked it.
Laios’ voice fits his complete lack of awareness in social situations perfectly. He sounds just a little too cheerful and just a little too oblivious, which is exactly what you want. Marcille’s casting is solid too, giving her the right amount of bite without losing the softness under it. Chilchuck’s VA gets that tired, competent energy down, and Senshi just sounds right. He has that exact kind of “dwarf” voice where the second he starts talking you go, yeah, that fits.
The worldbuilding is still one of the best parts. The dungeon feels like an actual place instead of just somewhere to dump monsters. There’s logic to how it’s laid out, how people survive there, and how different groups deal with it. You can tell the author actually thought through how this place would function. The wider world doesn’t feel tacked on either.
Watching it again mostly confirmed what I thought the first time I watched it subbed. That said, I still think episodes 20–24 are the weakest stretch. They’re not bad, just slower in a way that didn’t feel deliberate so much as dragged out. Even the earlier episodes had more energy. A slow episode is fine when that slowness is doing something, but this stretch mostly just dragged for me.
I’m not great with words, so I’ll keep the summary simple: fun series, great worldbuilding, a strong dub cast, and plenty to enjoy on rewatch. Absolutely worth your time.
