I have completed this series in 4 days and I cannot understand the feeling of those who might have waited 9 years for the series, people who were with this from the beginning, the overwhelming despair as well as a sense of growth and maturity they felt after watching season 3 ,episode 12- The last Soloist. This show is incredible. The amount of feelings it made me feel, ahh.
I didn't get tired of this series even after watching it non stop for 4 days. Other series's show some weakness, some cracks after a few episodes or seasons, something feels off and it feels like a drag to continue. However, this anime had me hooked the entire time, and I felt warmth and an urge to continue forward, and somehow I ended up at the last message of the last episode- END.
All the characters were fun. A shoutout to Nozomi and Mizore is a must, their dynamic was emotional, and at times really crushing but it was a wonderful story. Their love for each other, Nozomi finally being able to let her blue bird, Mizore, fly away with all her freedom was just profound. Liz and the Blue Bird is one of my favorite movies.
The character of Asuka-senpai was another special type. She was eccentric but also an adult, a perfect senpai role. It felt that, at any moment her facade might break but it grew stronger and didn't feel wrong, because it wasn't much of a facade, that was just how she had to be. I respect her alot.
The main characters of the show, Kumiko has grown to be one of my favorite characters. Her straight forwardness, undenying kindness and the ability to hear others out and help them, and sometimes just saying things without thinking of consequences is something that I loved. Her feeling lost for the future about what she wanted do and everything else in between, I love this character.
Her relationship with Reina is a a friendship done right. Kumiko struggling to even speak with her after all of what happened in middle school. In a moment of habit for Kumiko, she blurted out," Did you really think we could make it to the nationals?". Reina had heard it. She would only make up with her at episode 4 of the series's first season , well it was not really making up- more like things just slowly helped itself and by the end, their bond had become inseparable
Their dynamic was beautiful. And in episode 12 of season 3, it was at full flourish. Kumiko wasn't able to perform the last Soli together with Reina, which is undoubtedly heartbreaking, but also a very big character moment for both of them. I'm reminded of Liz and the Blue Bird slightly. Reina is strong and she will continue to fly.
It has ended far too quickly and I kind of hoped they had added a scene where they show who the next executives are and how did the next batch do in the next years competitions. I must also mention Sapphire ja nakute Midori and Hazuki, they are strong independent and great characters on their own.
I don't want to say goodbye but I must. It was a wonderful journey.
This review started as an activity but it had gotten so long that I decided to just turn it into a review. This is perhaps too emotional , informal and raw to be a review, but hey, I still want to submit this as my first ever.
