Wow, that beginning ended really quickly with that animation. And the thing is, this is one of the better isekai animes I've watched, at least character-wise. But the animation is just so bad it makes it incredibly difficult to get into the anime.
I'm sure anybody who's watched this knows how terrible the animation is, so I'll write the positives first. The main thing I like about this anime is the character development. So many anime don't have character development and just randomly have the main character get strong and everyone love him. This anime doesn't do this. Arthur is actually likable and I like following along with his journey. It's sweet to watch him go from this selfish, uncaring warrior to someone who wants to protect and care for others. The story hasn't caught my interest, but since I like Arthur, I'll keep watching.
Okay, now for the negative. The animation is just so, so bad. This is even worse than The Reason Why Raeliana Ended Up in the PowerPoint Presentation or Frame Lock Season 2. Most of it is still frames. There's some movement but none of it looks good. Then there's the special effects, the magic, which looks like something you could edit on CapCut. I think that's the best way to describe the animation; it looks like something that could be done on CapCut. Oh and the CGI is incredibly bad too. I also really don't like the character design. The manga has the characters looking a lot more detailed, the anime just has them looking so plain.
Personally, please don't hate me for this, but I'm not comfortable with watching Mushoku Tensei, so if this anime had been done well, this could have been a good alternative for me to watch. In fact, I didn't necessarily hate this anime, it was just mind-numbing to watch after a while with how terrible the animation was. But since this anime was done so poorly, it was just another sloppy anime to add to my list.
Oh, I also hate the opening. I can't forget that. I really, really hate the opening ?. I don't know how to describe it, I just really hate it. The song feels kind of corporate? I'm not trying to be rude about the artist or anything, just the song feels very empty. It doesn't help that the opening is just still-frames, mostly of just random backgrounds that don't even look good. Maybe it'd be a better opening if it weren't for that. The ending animation isn't good either.
I think this could be a pretty good anime if it weren't for the animation. Once the manhwa ends I may even read it. So I can't say this anime is necessarily terrible, but I don't think it's worth watching at all over reading the manhwa. The story seems like it has potential, it was good enough for me to keep watching despite how terrible the animation was. But the story wasn't strong enough to make watching the anime worth it in the end.
The author deserved so much better ??
So no, I don't recommend The Wipe After the Poop.
