Euphonium looked promising at first with a vast cast with unique storylines to be followed troughout the show but it so happens that most things that were hinted to be developed and would have been great to see throughout the show were dismantled and replaced by simpler events that were really originated by a very forced narrative that tried really hard to make the viewer believe in them. There is nothing wrong with a show having a disruptive or controversial narrative but part of enjoying a show is to be able to interpret the show on your own point of view. The show tried really hard to undermine that and with simple remarks of characters you could see the whole world building be altered to follow the narrative which led to a very artificial/superficial series of plot twists throughout the course of the story like for example someone disrupting the moment of tension and suddenly not only do the characters llay perfectly but also the listeners who most likely didnt have any knowledge of musical encore nor had the reason to compliment a certain group in particular started cheering iut of nowhere. This is of such importance that it impacted pretty much every character with someone like the Sensei being force to be painted on a bad light and indulging the viewer to believe in that not just with strong remarks but also very frequent ones. The show thus became really repetitive with events although differing from each other still essentially having the same meaning and effect. But Sensei is a small example if compared to Kumiko who gradually became emotionally opaque with every episode and the cherishing and emotionally initiative induced became more and more conformed with the events that happened having a lesser and lesser role with each new event that happened. All of these facts alone dont seem to matter much but when you go to compare it with a similar show like K-on! you can see the impact that these basic elements can have in a story and the perceivance of it by the viewers. Other things of note about the show are that the comedy was top notch when it came from side characters like Sapphire with them becoming more interesting than the protagonist every time she appeared with one of the most noteworthy moments being tubacabra. The songs used in the show were too similar and pretty boring and for a musically rich environment this element should have been put as priority in the production of the show, if you were to compare it to K-On! which did the right thing on prioritizing this element the latter became more profound and impactful in its core/unique moments that were the shows/(music events). Lastly id want to point out that the protagonist's lines sometimes bothered me a lot with her objectifying her female colleagues by for example comparing chest sizes, now this wasnt that recurrent but its still something of note.
