Season one of Attack on Titan sets the pace, establishes the world, and foreshadows future events, while still being an amazing watch. At first I did not get why Aot was as popular as it is, like sure it sounded pretty cool but was it one of the all time greats that people say it is, I did not think so. however after watching this first season I started to get it.
Very brief summary in case anyone forgot: Humanity is enclosed inside walls with giant people called titans outside. The main characters in Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are just living their life when a giant titan named the collosal titan breaks the wall letting tons of titans in. One of the titans kills Erens mom and after that Eren joins the scout regiment to try to kill every titan. Eren although dies when the collosal attacks the walls again when he realizes he can turn into a titan himself. Because of that Eren, Mikasa, and Armin are sent to die when the leaders of the scout Levi and Ervin say that they will keep him and make sure that if he kills anyone he will die. From then on Eren and the scouts go completing tasks for humanity and killing titans and alot of other stuff but if I said it all this would be longer than one piece. I think the story all though simple as it is trying to just explain the world and charactors for the other seasons to build on is very good.
The characters are all amazing each having their own personality that changes throughout the story. It is very realistic the trauma that they are all having. Every character has an important role in the series. My favorite especially in season one is Levi ackermann. He is very mysterious and it is cool seeing someone who is just do strong and can decimate hoards of titans.
The world building is not bad but is one of the weaker parts in the series. It has the best first episode in all of anime in my opinion as it is iconic, it sets the tone and it sets the story. You are introduced to this dark world and the story grips you as you move on and see Eren wanting to avenge his mother. The soundtrack is goated with the openings being peak and the themes for the charactors are too. The plot twists are insane and the foreshadowing means that the show is good the second time you watch it as well. The animation is really good even thought it gets better over time. The show is also really good at keeping the watcher not knowing what will happen next as there are so many twists and turns. The charctors also die a lot keeping me hoping my favorite charactors would not die yet.
Overall ti is really good and its only faults is its simplicity wich you cant blame it for as it is the first season. It feels comeplete while still setting up the anime perfectly and leaving me wanting more.
