Holy craps, my time with this anime was fun. It's engaging makes you wanna continue, is emotionally complex and involving; point is, I had a lots of fun with this anime and especially after "Code Geass", a chill and not so exposition-heavy anime really hit the spot. Though beginning at the complexity of emotions and then continuing with awkward dialogs, the classic backstory placement and some weird scene placements, ah I ain't so sure about theese. Nothing in this anime is outlandishly terrible and makes you wanna choke out your brain, but the sudden misses really killed the vibe sometimes, and those mistakes appeared too often in the anime for me to really avoid them. So engaging and lovely, but not rewatch-worthy.
Starting at the dialog placement, which is probably the biggest flaw. Fuck me, really some of these lines; AHHHH. Like Gabimaru (the main character) has so many goofy as fuck lines, which just kill his character sometimes. And he's not even THE WORST: Bro the fuck this purple-haired shinobi criminal motherfucker (Yuzuriha) has SOOOOO many goofy lines. And don't come to me like: It's their character. Nah, she be killing the vibe and emotionof a scene tooooo many times in a goofy and NOT FUNNY WAY.
Furthermore since Demon Slayer I've kept seeing the same backstory placement in anime shows
all the time. Like the short, often random, backstory of a character (which didn't fuckin' matter for the show) always before a character leaves the show or dies, S1ÖKL.BJ423N FÖSK-DJFB-üNAuiPI. And no, it's not about the kind of backstory story-telling alone, but the amount of times this is done, like I don0't need to know the 15 minute backstory of one mofo I didn't give a single shit about since the 1st frickin' episode. And don't come to me with - "aww, but it's interesting to understand as much as possible about any character" - nah it ain't, and it won't aid pacing either
I'm sorry but the music sometimes really isn't the shit sometimes. Like there is this one fighting
soundtrack, which is - omgg; eargasm - but otherwise the soundtrack is mostly mid and not that outlandish. (have in mind that I'm a composer as well, which is why I have a higher standard of soundtrack in general) This comes together with some world building flaws as well. Though don't read me wrong: I'm not saying that the world-building is trash. It's above average, but sometimes I feel like It's rushed or opportunities are missed or some other shit. Again it's mid
All in all, adding to my three or four main points, the anime is really enjoyable, but has its weaknesses, especially if you have an eye on perceiving them. If it is the rough dialog, backstory-placement, the music or the world building. These flaws in my opinion just add up after time and sometimes cut the drive, disturb the flow, destroy characters, kill the emotion or damage the pacing. These added mistakes are in the end perceivable and annoying to myself and maybe they even correlate to a decent, but not exceptional anime in total. Either wise remembering too many comparisons to JJK I have to say that nothing about this show is truly, truly outstanding. None of the characters are really unique. Not a single scene is that intensely tense and no much more is there a single OST track that hits incredibly hard.
So a score of 65 seems to be fair. Especially for the not technically-involved viewer this anime is really enjoyable and easy (if those people even made it that far into my review)
