Story 6/10

First, im quite new to watching anime and this is my first one I have finish. I like the story quite a bit. I think some episodes especially the first one was meh. But others were super interesting. Especially any episodes showing more of the world or the last arc. Showing how things work.

Themes 8/10

The themes is most obviously grief, regret, and memories. With the anime doing a great job showing said themes. Though there are others but I would like to think those are the main ones!

Characters 5/10

I understand that are MC is a elf and they trying to portray the story in some parts showing how much time has past. How quickly time goes like how she sees it. But while it does it effectively through animation. The writing does not feels the same way. With asking questions that felt like it should of been asked sooner in the relationship. Personally I dont like the two main girls. I like alot of the other characters. I think I just found it very hard to relate to. Especially Fern. Though Stark and and Sein were alright. Probably my favorite is Stark from the main cast. Though in the whole series it would be Kraft. Very interesting elf that I hope to see more of.

#Worldbuilding 5/10
I think the world is a box standard fantasy. While it is thought out; there is nothing of interest to me. Its a very standard fantasy world and I wish it had alot more going for the world. While I find how certain aspects of the world fascinating. Like how does the magic work and other stuff like governments. Thats it. But I haven't seen anything and here's hoping season 2 will show some more interesting stuff.

#Animation 8/10
Probably the strongest thing in this anime is how good the animation is. Nothing else to say, its fantastic! While I think some things could be composed a bit more interesting. With the choreography of the fights being better at using the enviorment and the world around them. Otherwise, its very good.

#Music 5/10
I think the music fits well. Nothing to say bad but nothing of note. Its okay.

#Pacing 10/10
This is also really good. It never felt like it dragged to long. Never felt to rushed. Though the last arc did felt weird. I dont know how to describe the pacing in it. I dont think its bad but it felt a little to long in some parts. Though I will admit, that is my most nitpick point here. I cant find any other problems with the pacing unlike other points in this list.

Final Thoughts

To end this, I enjoyed the anime Frieren. While I have problems in certain areas. After the first episode, it never bored me. I just dont like the first episode that much lol. Despite that, its worth a watch. If you enjoy fantasy with a diverse cast. Diverse as in different characters and motivations. Then this is a good anime to check out. If you dont like stories that takes place in a fantasy settings, then this might not be the anime for you. Either way, thank you for reading my reviews.
