Wail of a Dragon's Rage or Wail Of Weakness
In my opinion, it's a rather short series for a webtoon. With just 83 chapters, it's neither too long nor too short. You can read it completly free on webtoon but nowhere else. (With Ads for the chapters)
The team behind the webtoon themselves stated that they had to cut some story elements because otherwise it would have been too long. I have to say, this is noticeable. Themes and important information are often only briefly hinted at or not included at all. (But even that doesn't pose a problem to understanding the story.) However, many backstories are told in great detail.
The main focus is on revenge and preventing the end of the world. The backstories of some characters are explored, though none of them have a happy past. Character growth is limited to a few. Most don't become stronger or have to struggle with their past.
Art Style and Story:
The story takes place in a world with good and evil incarnations and gods. The world itself is only shown in small fragments and draws heavily on Norse and pagan mythology. This results in many allusions, such as the world tree Ygdrasil. The so-called incarnations can transform into different beings and possess various abilities.
Overall, it's a solid story, but there was room for more information and world-building.
The art style is, in my opinion, a bit controversial. It's undoubtedly the best I've ever seen in a webtoon, but at the same time, it's not particularly special. The artist did a fantastic job with the colors in the fight scenes, but that's where the differences from other realistically drawn/painted webtoons end. The colors and drawings are perfectly executed and very beautiful.
*It shows blood, violence, despair and other hard themes/scenes.
My opinion:
The series is a bit too short for me, and the story itself is told too quickly, which is why some information is missing. But the Story is great and good/easy to read/understand.
... However, I find the art style perfect, as well as the drawings and the harmony and transitions between normal scenes and fight scenes.
In my opinion it's a must read for the dark fantasy fans.
