This is my first ever review, I'm pretty amateur at these stuff so please excuse me.
Finally after ~~staying~~ on my list for almost 6 years, At last i watched AKIRA.

I have to say IT'S PRETTY DAMN GOOD for an '80s anime, The Animated Adaptation & Frames are solid, most likely better than some of the current anime adaptation. The retro background theme & Bikes, AHHH i wish there were more scene of these. The animations Sparkles with lights & many details in the backgrounds i give it 10/10 ??.

As for the characters?: I hoped they would build more details into the main characters like Kaneda, Kei, Tetsuo or the Three twins (aliens) so i can understand more of their personality, Why Tetsuo felt shaky about Kaneda always being there for him "i acknowledge they gave us a brief of their childhood, but it needed more details/characteristics".
i personally disliked The Colonel (Shikishima) persona as he does not care about anything other than his job (dictatorially), That's what i thought first till i kept watching i realized he actually care about his people, the 3 aliens, the country, he had to do what he done to secure them even if it mean to take a fatherless child to run some experimental on him....
As for Tetsuo (Akira), He's a bit complicated why has he been so aggressive after the experiment, he treated Kaori like dogshit but at the same time when she got attacked he showed cares, fast forward after he discovered/awakened his powers he became the villain for no obvious reason, he attempt to kill Kaneda at the hospital for the simplest of reasons "jealousy", Killed his friend at the bar, he's basically "I'M NOW MORE POWERFUL THAN Y'ALL, SO BEGONE WEAKLINGS". I mean there could be more villain materials out there...I give Character Development intotal 6/10?⚖️.

As for the Story: Beside the poor characters writing, The story is pretty solid, it divided into 3 routes { The Government, The Resistance, The biker gangs } sadly the bike gangs didn't have sufficient scene to the story, it could be superb to see more of a biker gang fights/appearance on the movie. The tech on this movie is fascinating from guns all the way to the bikes, Again i am fascinate of the bikes tech specially Kaneda's bike (the big juicy iconic red bike).
The 3 aliens (i know they are not aliens, i just like calling them that) stayed mysterious till the end of the movie, I didn't know either they are good or evil till almost end of the movie. I don't have much to talk about them nor the others. But i feel they could give more to the story. I give it 7/10.

In conclusion: This movie is a good experience, but surely overrated. I'm fully aware that this movie was released on the '80s and for something like that to be created on that era is truly magnificent?. I enjoyed the soundtracks pretty much though had to mention it. I would recommend you watching it either for the breeze of the past (good experience) or for the meme.
