This review will have spoilers of the entire show.
Happy Sugar Life is a very interesting show that is focused on two girls, Satou Matsuzaka and Shio Kobe.
Satou is just your ordinary anime protagonist. She gets good grades, everybody loves her and she also just happens to be a twisted fucking psychopath when it comes to her beloved just like any other yandere anime girl. Also her parents died or something.

Said beloved, Shio is a completely moronic and naive girl that Satou just so happens to find on the streets alone. The entire show is pretty much driven by Shio's existence, despite her not doing anything whatsoever to impact the story.

One day, Satou was wandering the streets to buy some crackrocks and she happens to witness a woman abandon her child.
Something about this child triggers an emotion in Satou that she had never felt before which was love. The series never explains why or how Shio captures Satou's heart but she becomes completely infatuated with Shio and kidnaps her.
Now the main goal of our heroine is to eliminate anything that threatens her and Shio's "happy sugar life".
Our supporting side characters in this epic adventure include.
Mitsuboshi Taiyo
Our bishonen blonde friend is a complete fucking weirdo that was also raped in the first episode and thus had developed a fear of older women.
He gives off a somewhat normal first impression but when he encounters a missing poster for Shio Kobe.He completely loses himself and simps over a fucking flyer of a little girl. I feel like 50% of the time he is on screen he is either sniffing a flyer of Shio or raving about her nonstop. It really gets tiring seeing him drool over Shio for the 20th time.
Asahi Kobe
One of the very few sane people in the show. Kid has a shitty childhood and gets fucked over by random thugs on the street trying to put up fliers for her missing sister. All he wants to do is find her sister Shio and protect her. Has a very cute relationship with Shouko which makes her death even fucking worse.
Shouko Hida
One of the aforementioned sane people in the show. Satou's "best friend", grew a relationship with Asahi and grew increasingly concerned with Satou's wellbeing. Both of these things eventually led to her getting killed by Satou who suspected Shouko of turning Satou to the police.
Satou Matsuzaka's unnamed aunt
Satou has a weird and fucked up aunt who lives near fairly close. Her aunt is responsible for why Satou is the way she is today. She fucks random guys on an hourly basis, a masochist, an arsonist, a rapist and corrupted Satou's worldview with her very warped views on love.
literal fucking who characters
some stalker pedo teacher or some shit i dont know some rapist pedo manager some creepy fangirl who gives a fuck about them
story and is it good?? ?
The show does a great job in starting the story with intrigue as you start off right at the fucking ending unlike the manga. The story also builds tensions well as our two main characters face new obstacles. The story also answers most lingering questions throughout the episodes.
However some events in the story are so mindbogglingly stupid that it just completely destroys the story for me. For example Satou's aunt forces herself on a police officer in front of his partner and all everyone did was just watch wtf??? Shio also happens to be completely fine with Satou killing her best friend. Shio also happens to somehow live when they fell from a 6+ story building just because Satou shielded her even though shes a fucking babby.
Maybe the ending is better right?

Fuck no lol

The ending is honestly what fucking kills the animu for me. The aunt is convicted of the death of Satou and Shouko which seems kinda dumb.
The teacher gets arrested like okay ?????
Shio also somehow lives, which I could excuse because her brother is visiting with flowers and now they're gonna be together right?
Nah Shio completely fucking loses it and now thinks Satou is part of her and that they've become one. Asahi is understandably shocked from this and the story ends there.
Basically you just wasted about 300 minutes because everything led to nothing except for Satou and Shouko dying, Shio going crazy and Asahi completely wasting his time just like us.
If I were you I'd just read the manga. The manga includes backstory for more characters, subtle but huge details and an actual ending that will not make you want to gouge your eyes out.
Manga gets an 89/100 btw just because the ending doesn't make you want to die.
