LET'S GO ON A TRIP TO ANTARCTICA!
Please do not let this anime fly off your radar. It is a stunning story about how four girls with different wishes come together on a journey to the Antarctica while also being on a journey with themselves. I have absolutely no complaints. The art is refreshing and colorful, the girls are so endearing and unique, and I absolutely adore the plot. This anime is super easy to watch and keep up with. Honestly anybody could watch this and enjoy it. It's really easy to immerse oneself in it.
I really enjoyed this anime because it was a captivating story of how each girl overcame their problem while maintaining a sweet story of friendship. I liked how each of the girls had a different backstory and personality, because it felt realistic seeing the way they interacted with each other. The characters were unique and blended well with each other. It low-key makes me a bit jealous and want a friend group like that too! Throughout their adventure, there were many twists and turns that showed the audience more about their ability to work together. I felt like their conversations were realistic because it showed the happy times, and it also showed the more serious conversations about grief and miscommunications (especially while they were in Fremantle, Australia). The character development makes me so proud of them and this trip certainly qualified as a rite-of-passage as the four girls transformed into strong and capable young women. It was a super cute and wholesome story. Hinata, the girl iconic for her quotes, was definitely my favorite character.
The art is super colorful and bright (fitting, because Antarctica is super white and white reflects light hehe). I really enjoyed the art, especially the nature scenes like the penguins and the Aurora australis! It was really pretty. The art felt really immersive, as if I were also on the expedition to Antarctica. I also really enjoyed the use of social media "posts" in the anime; there were "instagram posts" at the beginning of each episode which felt like a cute little detail. I looked up the usernames and was surprised to find out they had actual instagram accounts (@srs_kobuchizawa) !! Super cute. Music was fitting and emotional. I definitely cried a bit during this anime because the story was so impactful.
Anyways, this anime made me cry because it was so sweet. Please watch it. Episodes 3, 4, 8, and 12 ESPECIALLY were my favorite. Overall, each episode was a delight to watch and this anime is a wonderful experience! I would recommend it to anybody looking for an adventure. I would also recommend it to anybody at all.
