Well for some background, I first met this series by reading a couple of chapters of the manga, I found it stupid and hilarious at the same time and read all of the chapters during that time. Of course, as the manga wasn't that popular, the translation speed was quite slow, meaning that I quickly lost interest and moved onto other manga. When they announced the anime, I was ecstatic and pleasantly surprised. This meant that I knew what I was getting into: a show with a ridiculously overpowered main character and I loved it.
Visuals: All things considered, the animation wasn't all too bad and I have seen worse. Didn't add to the story nor did it take away from enjoying the show. 5/10
Sound: The soundtrack was forgettable and I didn't particularly care for the opening or ending (didn't hate it either). 5/10
Story: Well this is where things get tricky... On one hand, you have an OP MC, meaning that there is no narrative tension at all. On the other hand, the show doesn't try to hide it and the OPness is so obvious that it's more obvious than a person in a clownsuit driving up in a Ferrari and slapping you with a fish. And the story as hilarious as if you saw someone getting slapped like that on Youtube. But to be honest, the story isn't all too amazing and sometimes it feels like Anos is collecting a harem of tropes, i.e. the tsundere and kuudere, not to mention the fanclub... 6/10
Enjoyment: Of course, the most important thing about a show is how much I enjoyed it. Also, please don't take one person's opinion too seriously, everyone has their own taste and people always disagree with what shows are great. I personally feel like Carnival Phantasm is a masterpiece and deserves a 10/10 but does that mean that I recommend it to everyone? No, to enjoy the show you need some knowledge about Fate and Tsukihime to get the jokes. So my point is that what one person enjoys might not necessarily mean that you will enjoy it. My suggestion is that you just watch the first 3ish episodes to figure out if it is something you want to watch and move on from there.
Anyways, back to the review, the bottom line is that the show was surprisingly fun, I enjoyed watching an OP MC beat up bad guys and stomping over everything without impunity. 8/10
So my final score is tentatively a 6/10. Still working on my rating scale and this might change. But for now, I rate it slightly above average (5/10) and I recommend the show to people that enjoy OP MCs or want to turn off their brains and just watch an action-packed show (although the action isn't anything noteworthy). There are better shows in this season though (Summer 2020) and you might be better off watching something else if you have limited time.
