This review contains spoilers, beware!
Chainsaw Man is a really fun manga i started reading this year and really did not regret doing that. Although i did not enjoy the character deaths that were so sudden and the pacing towards the end, its still something that is definetly worth reading, as i really enjoyed my time with it. Whats so great about it?
Honestly, its pretty stupid but i'd say the main character. Usually in other shonen series, they wanna avenge someone or save their family or whatever, but Chainsaw Man straight up says " fuck that" and gives the main character the funniest motivation;

I mean...you already got my attention from here. With its really simple goal of the main character, i'm already interested in what is going to happen to the guy, especially knowing that he was a devil hunter that was trying to survive every day with his little pup Pochita. After the first chapter, we also get introduced to Makima, a character that took interest in Denji and giving him a chance to experience a "normal" life he has been wanting to experience.
From here on out, the pacing is great; the manga wastes no time in getting the reader into the world of Chainsaw Man by introducing Power and Aki, which he has to work with to collect the Gun Devils several pieces and destroy it. Although at first the first few chapters didn't feel like they had a sense of direction, i think this was a good choice as it was needed to set up the antagonist, and make us more acquinted to the new characters. Powers backstory wasn't really the engaging but it did its job to fuel the pacing onto our first antagonist; the Bat Devil, which did his job as being the first training dummy for Denji, as he moped the floor with him, and the great art which is superb for being a weekly manga;

The manga is on a constant thrill-ride; Crazy shit keeps on happening and the tension of not knowing whats going to happen just keeps on going, and you get sucked into it more and more. Ofcourse, its not all actions, as there are some chapters which serve as a "breather" of what is going to happen next. Usually, these chapters develop relationship with the characters in some really weird but ultimatelly entertaining ways. The manga also has an immature sense of humor, but that is the charm to this manga. I personally loved the humor although some people might not really enjoy it tho.

As the manga keeps on going, we reach the peak of it all, the reveal of the antagonist which caught people offguard; Makima. Honestly, as much as i wasn't really suprised, i think it was a well-done reveal and who she really is; The Control Devil. She also did her job of being an antagonist well by...pretty much killing more then what seemed like 100K PEOPLE IN LITERALLY SECONDS. She also treats poor Denji was a puppy, no bueno.
Oh, there a ton more, i just didn't want to spoil the Devil Gun design which is pretty fucking sweet if i do say so myself.Finally, the last acts of the series was... good enough for me. Some stuff were unexplained and the pacing was a bit too fast for my taste but i think it was a good "ending" to it all, as Chainsaw Man is supposed to have an announcement about a Part 2 sometime soon after the last chapter is offifically released.
My gripes with Chainsaw Man has to be the sudden character deaths that were kinda annoying at times. It also doesn't really develop some characters alot like Power, but i don't think its a bad thing either since she is supposed to be comedic relief character.
With that out of the way, Chainsaw Man is a super fun shounen to read through. Although it has some small problems, i think the good stuff in it really outweights the faults of it, and is a good manga to start off if you are new.
