fuck me that was good, I have no clue how the hell this is classed as a shonen. The most gruesome and just insane things happened within this manga. I hope the anime adaptation turns out good because this deserves it. I lowkey think this has the potential to become the next seinen type show like Attack On Titan and Tokyo Ghoul. It probably did blow up on Twitter however I only started and finished a day ago so I'm not sure about that but if Mappa does a good job with the anime it's gonna be one of the most popular shows of 2021 and it'll easily be one of the contenders for anime of the year. This is my first review on anilist, so imma probs have to drag this out a bit to fulfil the requirements.
the characters are great and this show is not afraid to kill them off whether they are in the main group or not which even attack on titan couldn't do (from what's out so far) the main trio, Levi, Connie, Reiner and a few others just don't seem to die however in chainsaw man the author doesn't seem to give a fuck hahaha he just kills of people if he feels like it and this show is depressing at times. the main character denji goes through so much it makes you feel so sorry for the situations he's been in and the way he's been used so much.
the art was outstanding and always very easy to follow. attack on titan, jujutsu kaisen and even sometimes in tokyo ghoul can be hard to follow and confusing at times due to the sketchy art styles. it happened especially in attack on titan, sometimes in tokyo ghoul however only like once or twice in jjk. I'm not trying to hate on them, I love all of them but It could just be a struggle to understand what was going on with the art styles they had. I was initially worried that it would be the same case with chainsaw man however it was incredibly easy to follow and the art was outstanding while still having a bit of that sketchy side to it as well.
now spoiler territory
also, I gave a score of 100 that's probably me just being an edgy teen it'd probably around an 8-10 ish out of 10 if you're not that big into like gruesome and seinen shows
