I'm going to be honest here... not a fan of this series. I was under the impression that this was going to be a decent anime for me. I can see why some people like it for obvious reasons, but I honestly could not really enjoy it as much.
First off, the plot. Honestly, what there to say? It's an isekai. MC dies, gets sent to another world to start a new life. I don't mind isekai personally, it's just that the genre itself is really formulaic and doesn't change up all too often. However, I think it really depends on how the main character is and I'll get to that in a bit. The gist of it is that Kazuma dies in the real world, he sends the goddess he meets called Aqua with him to the new world, joins a guild, and goes on quests as if it's an RPG. It's not a bad plot, just very basic and really just feels like there's nothing else to it. Maybe it's for world-building purposes but I'm not sure just yet since I haven't watched S2 at this moment in time.
Onto characters and again, I don't what to say about the main ones other than Aqua is just obnoxious mostly, Megumin is probably the best one out of the four, and "Darkness" is somewhat alright but as far as a character goes, she's just not well developed at all. I know that's subject to change with S2 because she gets development there so I'll patiently wait for that before I can say what I need to say about her character. The worst main character out of the bunch though is by far Kazuma, I swear, this man is just rude to Megumin and Darkness for no justifiable reason. I can understand Aqua, sure but Megumin and Darkness definitely don't deserve the same treatment just because of what Kazuma thinks about their abilities. I also find his character... weirdly misogynistic and manipulative like in the OVA episode, just trying to get the main cast as well as Wiz and newly introduced Yunyun to do whatever he wants. His character is pretty foul, I don't know if it improves in S2 and I don't really want to jump to conclusions about his character but from what I have seen so far, I highly doubt it will.
As far as the anime goes, the main thing I seem to get from it is that it seems to go for a comedy, parody like approach with its attempts at humoring the audience. However, I say "attempts" because I'm gonna be brutally honest, aside from few parts within the season that made me chuckle a little, it's not that funny to me. Yeah, in all honestly, I don't really know what else to say other than I hardly think that screaming loudly and watching some characters be complete numbnuts counts as good comedy.
Aside from that, the OP is OK for the most part, it's not my thing and sounds a little too generic for my taste but it does feel fitting for sure. And speaking of "fitting", that consensus can also go with the ED too. The anime definitely does have a visual spectacle to it too. At some points, it can look pretty nice. Especially the scenes with water but it's nothing too spectacular, it looks nice though, art style is great too. But other than that, I've just felt really let down by what I had to watch in Konosuba. I could have liked this a lot more if they changed the plot up a little to feel a lot less formulaic than the regular isekai. But more than that, I would much have preferred if Kazuma's character was redone. He could still be an ass to others from time to time but I would at least like him to show a lot more sentiment and understanding for the major female cast as I only feel like he just treats them poorly mostly for no real reason. Again, I'm not sure what happens in S2 but hopefully, things can improve a little more from what has been shown to me as of right now.
