It's the journey of an orphan who moves forward in search of the answers or feelings her past self couldn't understand.
From a girl whose only motive or reason to be alive was as a war machine and wasn't even considered a human because of her lack of sense and understanding, to a Auto Memory Doll whose significance in the society was drawing out the feelings of people's speech and inscribing them in letters which was the only means of communication in medieval era. Quite an ironical situation right ?
Wonderfully animated by Kyoto Animation, this series is a feast to all anime watchers around. From the plot to it's execution, every aspect of the show is well-crafted and praiseworthy. The revolution of the story is well paced with the flow in such a manner that it could resonate all onscreen scenes into the watchers' heart. In other words, even the minute of the details are taken care of and intricately executed.
I felt the OP too hit me differently, preventing me from skipping it in all the episodes. Why not enjoy it by giving a watch before we get back to the business reader ?

Love is a mystery right ? So it is for our titular character Violet Evergarden. Not only love, but her inability to understand feelings and sentiments earned her the nickname war machine or feelingless doll. What can be the reason for it, maybe her adrenaline gland wasn't functioning ? No, that's not it (That was just an innocent joke). Read the first line of the review. She was an orphan and that so, from a very early age she was enrolled into the militant because of her quick reflexes and other attributes which made her a perfect fit for it.
However, the twist in the story arises later when she met her superior Major Gilbert there.

Unlike the others, her major treated her with affection and care, knowing the fact that she wasn't normal like other girls he tried to help her and make her understand the concept of human psychology and what it was to be a normal happy girl.
Maybe, he was successful upto some extent, but the tensions in the militant grew up with the declaration of a war. Violet's time was limited with Gilbert, but this didn't end without a confession of love from him in his last of the breaths. Violet who was unable to respond to his feelings, felt responsible for everything until then. And, now her actual quest starts in the search of a treasure box of love which was carved in with feelings.
____

The reason for her efforts might not be beside her, but is always inside her gazing her through the clouds. Violet's only gift around her neck symbolizes how important Gilbert was to him and that tiny little thing makes her feel his flames.

She moves forward to become an Auto Memory Doll to understand Gilbert's last words and make the concept of love a little clearer. Ofcourse, considering her rued past it was very difficult for her but she refuses to give up and experiences many incidents which led to a change of heart for her. In the process she made a friend or two, got loving colleagues who worried for her and over her health.

Will Violet be able to converse like normal people ? Will she finally be able to understand what Gilbert meant by his last words ?
This mystical journey finds answers to these questions.
P.S- I haven't watched the sequel movie yet, was waiting for the BLU-RAY. It goes without saying that I'll update you all to the latest bulletin after I complete it, so hang in there until then. Also, this was my first review so if I succeeded in giving the sketch or outline of the series then plz give a thumbs up to show your affection. Otherwise, I'm open to criticism too.
