My Takeaway from this absolute phenomenal manga...
Reading it was like an experience, a journey with Punpun, within whom we all saw ourselves, more or less.
Here's What I Felt
'There always exists a fine line between right and wrong. Or at least that’s the idea we’ve been always sold. The line is made up of a concoction of societal norms-with a dash of fallacy, self-righteousness and moral predicament, to consolidate it. To make it further stout, substantial.
But what if, there’s no right? Or worse, no wrong?
What do you choose? Where do you go?
The idea of what you could have had and the regret of what you can lose will never let you be at peace with what you choose.
You wish you could enjoy the best of both worlds, but that’s just a wish. Just like your wish of never having to face the dilemma, in the first place.
So, you wait for the time to take its course and leave upon destiny to do what it does the best. You trust the process and just hope that Fate has Utopia in store for you. You accept what your fate chooses and move on; Move so away from the line until eventually, the line isn’t visible to you anymore. And while you celebrate the idea of coming this far, your heart knows the line still exists. The other side still exists and that it waits for you… since and forever…
You’re not sure how knowing that makes you feel. There’s a sense of liberty, loss, guilt and regret. But you surely know, you’d have felt the same regardless of the choice you made.
You also know, feelings are ephemeral, ever fleeting. You just know. Knowing is never enough.
So, you decide to speak up, let go of your emotions. You’re, not surprisingly, unable to translate your thoughts into words. So, the words that never left your mouth and the caged feelings that refuse to escape are pushed out through tears. You feel empty and relaxed for a while. Just a while, until the tears, seep in you again and emotions find their way to flow in every vein. You feel laden again.
we can't control what we feel, neither could PUNPUN. This depicts that even if we do have the right choices upfront and we know that would be for our best..we still won't be able to control our actions. The heart wants what it wants.
Sometimes the feelings are pure but the situation turns into adversity, you don't know how to explain to the other person what you feel and the only option you think is correct is cutting yourself out for some times.
You don't know if you would get to see/talk the ONE ever again or not.
It’s like you’re falling into an abyss, heftily.
There exists a void that nothing can replete.
And unlike most things in this world, you know this feeling is to stay with you, forever.'
Looking back, you can never be sure...if something would have been different THEN, will things turn out the way u would have wanted it..NOW?
Humans have the tendency to live with IFs and BUTs.We tend to hold our past in our hearts and this is what ultimately screws us over...For some people more, for some less. And hence...bad choices..regrets..guilt..and forsaken love.
