Lupin III
Lupin III is the grandson of the original Arsène Lupin and inherits the family business through sheer enthusiasm. The series settles into a working rhythm in its first season: Lupin running a small, chaotic crew — the marksman Jigen, the swordsman Goemon, the constantly-pivoting accomplice Fujiko — through international heists that the lone Inspector Zenigata of Interpol has dedicated his career to interrupting. The original 1971 run leans bleaker and stranger than the redder, friendlier versions that followed, and several of the episodes the franchise has been remixing for fifty years originate here.
