Death Note

Light Yagami doesn't know he's bored until he picks up the black notebook lying in the schoolyard. The book belongs to Ryuk, a shinigami who dropped it for amusement — and any human who writes a name on its pages can kill the person they're picturing. Light has the marks of a model student: top of his class, son of a police officer, conscience strong enough to feel the rot in the world around him. He starts with criminals. Soon his pen reaches further, and a detective known only as L begins hunting whoever is behind the wave of impossible deaths.
