Akane Ousaki was six the first time her father Shinta took her to a rakugo performance, and Shinta has been the family's quiet pride since she could remember — until the night of his shin'uchi promotion exam, where the senior masters refuse to advance him for reasons no one in the family is willing to say aloud. Six years later, Akane has decided to become a shin'uchi herself, partly to clear her father's name and partly because the art is genuinely hers. The series is the contemporary rakugo circuit told from the perspective of a teenage girl trying to break into a hierarchy that has not been kind to either of them.
