The Cultural Exchange Between Species Act has been in force for three years, and a population of harpies, lamia, centaurs, and other beings previously assumed to be fiction have been moving through Japan's host program. Kurusu Kimihito is a high schooler whose name turned up on the host list by clerical error, and the first arrival assigned to him is the lamia Miia. The series follows Kurusu's small house as more of the program's species — the centaur Centorea, the harpy Papi, the slime Suu — get placed under his roof, and the legal officer who keeps having to verify nothing inter-species is happening on premises.
