High-school light-novel writer Masamune Izumi has the cover-art problem of his career: the illustrator who has been carrying his books for two years, anonymous pen name Eromanga-sensei, has just sent him a deadline-bombing email and refuses video chat. Masamune lives with his younger stepsister Sagiri, who has not left her bedroom in a year, communicates through stomps on the floor, and is — although neither sibling has connected the dots — exactly the same illustrator. The series is the comedy and small ache of two siblings who have been collaborating across a hallway for two years finally figuring out who is actually on the other side.
