SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, I decided to bite the bullet and watch My Hero Academia. Had people on one side telling me this show is fucking trash and other people singing it's praise from the rooftops. I sit somewhere in the middle where, yeah its pretty mainstream and overhyped but it is by no means a bad show.
Story
The story takes an interesting premise but not something I haven't seen before within Western media, but interesting none the less. The story serves as an omage to American comic books, something which I really enjoyed. The powers are fun and creative and the set pieces are good fun. It is something that I enjoyed, and with people telling me this was the weakest of all the seasosn, gives me hope that the following ones will improve. However, that does not mean that it is not without it's flaws. After the first few episodes which were really cozy and fun to watch, I wanted the show to kick it up a notch. The first few days of school are fun but start to become a bit dull towards mid season, fortunately the final few episodes really do deliver a punch. Overall, it's decent but nothing to write home about, there are shows that have better first seasons/arc's out there but that does not mean that this one is without it's merits.

Characters__
Now time for properbly the weakest part of the show. The characters lack a certain edge aside from a select few. The rivalry between Izuku and Kachan is very well handled and you really do feel from the first scene in the first episode that this is going to work well. Again, Izuku's relationship with All Might is great and carries the plot forward along. Izuku is a great protagonist that people can easily empathise with, however at times he can be a bit whiney. However, all of the other characters are a bit one dimensional and dull, not really progressing and serve more to just be there. They are by no means bad, but not particularly good either. Dissapointing considering how great some of their powers are. Izuku's growth and relationship with All Might and Kacchan are what really shine, as well as the three characters individually.
Music
The Music in this show is great tbh and one of the best parts about it. The opening and outro songs are great and really fit well with the theme of the show. The OST can be a tad lacking at some points but it's very rare with great battle music, emotional scores and just general tracks to create a sense of atmosphere that really works. Overall, good job here.

Art__
The art is pretty steller. It's never bad and at most of the times the characters look great. However, the janky drawing's sometimes don't look all the best but never looks low effort or bad, just sometimes I feel the style is always to my taste (although 80% of the time it is). There are plenty of interesting and great looking shots that you could easily screengrab. Basically, yh it's pretty good.

Overall__
Yh it's decent, but it ain't the second coming. If you fancy some light hearted, insperational fun this show is definitely for you. It may feel childish at times but the majority of times it's throughly enjoyable. It's held back at times by the pacing and plot, as well as development of side characters but overall, it doesn't detract from the overall experience. It was nice to have something a bit more light hearted while im beginning to watch the end of the Chimera Ant Arc in Hunter x Hunter. However, this show is not as good as what many people will lead you to believe. Does that mean you shouldn't watch it? Absolutely not, its good, lightherated fun and I'm looking out to checking out Season 2!
