Jobless Reincarnation is that old uncle that sits in the corner of the room that everyone tries to imitate. Jobless is unique because it doesn't have the cliche tags such as OP main character or "I was sent to this world for a purpose" but still has some aspects which every Isekais has. The story does start slow but it doesn't lack in detail, clearly depicting every action and explaining relevant information needed for the story to progress whilst still giving us the reader many unanswered questions. The story presents the struggles which the main character faced in his previous life which I find very unique as most Isekais tend to forget the life of the main character in the real world. Furthermore, Rudeus retained issues such as anxiety and depression which he eventually fought against when he got reincarnated in this new world. The story made it so that the main character was in a child's body which made it easier for people around him to help whilst also giving him confidence as he is now a child. I find this well done because the main character sees his new life as a restart and a time to change as he is in a new body and with a new family whilst also remembering who he used to be in his previous life which as a result gives him a mental conscious of helping others and not leading them down the same path which he was once on. But don't get me wrong the story itself is still far from perfect. One issue that I have personally is the constant sex scenes we have, notably the Rudeus and Eris scene (note this is one of the cliches Isekai aspect that jobless has) even though it may not be actual sex we are seeing, we basically saw a child that has a mind of a grown man rape a child, even though it may seem normal to them the writer is trying to show the type of world they are in, however for me as a viewer I felt very uncomfortable watching those 5 minutes. Nonetheless, apart from the slow pacing and this one issue, the story itself was very good and has set up a really exciting world-building to come.
Jobless Reincarnation production crew does a great job animating and beautifully colouring scenes giving a relative sense of what the world looks like and the type of world it is. An example of this is the house Rudeus grew up in, the house itself is not much but the way it looks and the way it is coloured gives us a sense of medieval and fantasy vibes which is what Jobless is trying to show. Even though not much of the story progresses Studio bind is still able to show off the banger animation they have in the training scenes that Rudeus goes through.
The characters in jobless are well made to the point each character has something unique about them. Rudeus is by far one of my favourite and one of the best characters in the series, Rudeus is the type of main character who came to this new world expecting to have unlimited power but in reality was weak and had to work his way up and even after that he still recognised he was weak and still continued to push himself further but in an uncommon way, gaining knowledge of different species that existed in this world which as a result helped him out later on. Moreover not to forget the issues he suffered from the beginning with anxiety and depression which might be the writer trying to express we ourselves are Rudeus and we too can find a way back to living life to the fullest.
To conclude Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu is a unique Isekai that pushes the boundaries of what is meant to be an Isekai, a great world-building story of a man who felt he had nothing left, a pointless reason to live but was grabbed back by the very person who created him and gave him another chance to experience what life is really about whist also helping others with there issues which they see impossible to fix. Jobless reincarnation is a must-watch, a fantasy pact anime with great written dialogue and empathy that some can relate. Don't see Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu as another generic Isekai that fills the genre with complete trash see it as that hidden gem that is waiting to be discovered.
