Disclaimer: This review may spoil the anime but only in a general way i haven't gone into any details so view at your own risk.

If you are the type of person who loves rom-coms but really hates it when the main character is a total dumb ass and doesn't understand in the slightest when he is being flirted with then this is the anime for you. It has the all the elements you'd expect from a rom-com but it looks at it from a slightly more realistist and almost sad point of view.By that i mean the characters draw you in since they are all so unique and are dealing with their own problems in life and that sometimes gets in the way of the relationship the three main characters are trying to build but i think that this way is more realistic than everything going fine and the mood is all happy all the time.

The main character Hikigaya has a perspective that i have'nt seen used in a lot of rom-coms but when i do see it im so glad, maybe its because i can relate to them who knows?

Anyway he has this way of looking at everything that is very calculated and methodical, he has seen everything and knows how things normally go so when a girl is nice to him he expects they are trying get something from him not that they genuinely like him.Due to this he is very distant and living in his own little world or in anime's case he is the king of his little world and loves how he knows everything about everyone.Hikigaya being this way means that the moment a girl shows affection to him he doesn't turn into mush and go all "ehh umm uh" while turning into a tomato and telling the girl nervously to back away. Some people might like that but not me i prefer the guy thinking the way that hikigaya does like i said previously i think this is a much more realist response especially if the guy has'nt had the best experience with women.
The fact he knows exactly how certain people work also means he can manipulate people fairly well and in this anime where he joins a club to help other sudents he puts this to good use since he knows it will solve the problem at hand, however some people really hate his methods.

If you're worried that this anime has no moments that makes you smile and feel happy for the characters don't be because i assure you it has plenty of those moments and at least in Hikigaya's case they are very sutle, he will let his nice side slip for a while and that is pretty sweet.
As for the other characters pretty much all of them are cute in their own way just depends on what you're into really but this anime has pretty much all of the dere's you could want plus a little sister if you're into that personality.

I would recommend this anime to anyone who loves the rom-com genre and even if they are new to it i think it is a good one to start on since you will get the real experience first and not be suckered into all those happy go lucky ones like i used to be.
The only reason i gave it a 9 and not a 10 would be due to the ending,
