hi ! just to be clear, this will indeed have spoilers, so if you're reading this without having watched the show, i advise you to come back after watching !
hmm, to start off, i would indeed like to point out that this show brought me on the verge of tears far too many times to count, even if it wasn't a sad moment. i genuinely got way too attached to it and now i rely on it more than i should. it's my comfort anime
one thing i really enjoyed about this show was that everything was spaced out in a way where you were left wanting more and wanting to see what happened. the palm trees at the end always hurt whenever it cut off a serious moment. i also loved the way the characters were created, because there was a large variety of ages and a variety of personalities as well.
i'm a reki kinnie, which leaves me loving him far more than when i originally started the show, and it felt like a personal attack every time he suffered through something, such as the argument with him and langa. i also loved how he was aware that he was treating langa unfairly, but still couldn't help but feel like he was betrayed. he's so precious.
langa is also a character that deserved much more. i loved the make-up in episode ten, but i definitely feel like they could have ventured far more into his backstory. reki also deserved to know how much he helped langa. i really liked how langa was able to help ADAM understand the joy in skating again, but there was sort of an emptiness that was left after the show ended.
speaking of ADAM, i loved how he was portrayed. he was a genuine villain, with his plan for langa to be his EVE, and everything that happened was a result of what he had done. i still want to know the whole fling thing between him and cherry, though. at least he had tadashi in the end, which is sort of who he always had since the beginning. the whole dog thing was sort of strange, though.
as for cherry and joe, i will probably forever be a matchablossom shipper. i'm sorry, okay? i love them too much. but joe was definitely such a dad, especially for miya, who deserved an apology from reki?!#*#(@ i think that miya deserved so much more than he was given, and he was definitely one of my favorite characters. i like how they had the huge variety of ages, ranging from literal adults to middle school kids. it was refreshing.
and shadow, who deserved so much more screen time, was such a well made character. he was such a sweetheart, and i will pity him for losing the girl he worked so hard to get, but i know that with time he'll find someone.
and then just the background characters in general. i loved each and every one of them, even if some weren't shown all that often.
i guess that's it then. i will indeed be rewatching each episode all over again and studying them to see what else i can pull out of it, but i enjoyed this show a lot. i definitely recommend to those who love a good sports anime !! it kept me entertained and always looking forward to the next episode.
