I have recently completed ReLIFE and it was a really interesting Slice of Life anime with an interesting concept for the genre (from my experience).
It touches on the idea of helping people “finding themselves” again by offering them the possibility of “reliving” their youth again during a one-year period. More specifically, it focus on the end of the high-school and university entrance transition period, which is, on its own, a cool period where different matters from everyday life can be seen and discussed.
I liked the characters a lot and how it managed to blend in both comedy and more “emotional” scenes perfectly, gradually becoming more and more “mature and emotional”, almost following the character's evolution as the story progressed.
It showed us how important it can be for us to stand for what we believe in and for us to act according to our own sense of justice, and, while the consequences of doing so can appear to be daunting and bad in the short-term, we learn that, somehow, for some reason, we can always take out something good and positive from acting according to our own beliefs. It's a way of making people believe more in themselves and making people believe that each individual's own actions can always have an impact on others.
Ultimately, it's an anime about the strength of the individual versus “the world”, and an anime about how being always truthful and honest in such a “harsh” world can always bring you something good in the end, and I think it was a great message to deliver in an anime of this kind of thematic.
Regarding the series execution itself, I averaged the score at an 7.60, because while nothing stood out that much “per se”, the whole story, characters and underlying message (in my eyes ofc) end up combining really well to deliver an interesting show that can make you both laugh and think about how life and relationships around evolve based on your actions.
Also, to conclude this short review, I'd just like to express my own opinion on how cool it was to have the 13 episodes released in one go :D
