Roughly summarised, the anime delivers a strong start but absolutely weakens after the first 2 episodes.
Appearance/Synchro
Actually, there is nothing to criticise about the look and the synchro, but there were "glitches" in some episodes when streaming on Crunchyroll (the picture got stuck or the sound suddenly disappeared), which were not fixed even after several reloads and thus always occurred in the same places. Since Chrunchyroll is the official publisher and I have never experienced anything like this before, even on Chrunchyroll, I have to blame this on the anime at this point.
Storyline
The anime resembles in the first 2 episodes, from the structure, a classic detective story: A new case occurs, the characters of those involved are outlined and the case is then solved, after several considerations. In addition, there are the monsters / yokai / demons / ghosts that make the cases so exciting and the unusual character constellation of the protagonists Kuro and Kotoko, who could hardly be more opposite. These opposites create many funny situations that lighten up and complement the anime, which at times seems like a horror series.
After the 2nd episode, however, there is a time jump that does the anime no good. Not only that the interesting parts between Kuro and Kotoko have almost completely disappeared,
Characters
The characters can hardly be criticised. Even the smallest secondary character usually has a complex story, which is of course explained.
Only the protagonists have their problems. The biggest of these would be that their dynamics, from episode 3 onwards, almost completely disappear.
Characters: First the character design in general, biased I must say (especially with Iwanaga) I love it. Some of her facial expressions are really ingenious, fitting and funny.
Iwanaga: She is the main female protagonist.
She is a small petite young lady (episode 1, 17 years old. episode 2, 19 years old). She has a slim build and blonde(a little grey), short and looky hair. Due to a particular outcome in her life, she has lost one leg and one eye. However, she wears prostheses. Her character is difficult to describe. She is very intelligent, sees through everything, quiet but is very direct and stubborn. However, when it comes to kuro some things come out, even she openly tells him to his face that she "loves" him, but when she receives a compliment she immediately blushes (maybe Tsundere, but not sure)
Kuro: Is the male protagonist. He has a very unimpressive appearance, with a slim build (but he is still athletic). He himself is 20 or 22 years old. By an action, he is immortal, has a strong regeneration and can always predetermine the future to a certain extent when he is very badly injured (in addition, he feels no pain). I would describe his character as calm and composed, intelligent and sometimes almost motionless. At first he found Iwanaga annoying, but later you realise that he feels more for her than you suspect.
Conclusion
I can absolutely recommend the first 2 episodes to everyone, no one needs to watch the rest. The anime ruins itself by the time jump and that with bravura. I am honestly disappointed and first considered rating the anime even worse.
