Black Clover is truly one of the worst Shonen anime that I have ever watched, it is something that I could not recommend to anyone and I get weirded out every time someone tells me that Black Clover is one of their top anime.
The anime starts off in the most cliché way possible, two brothers one is overpowered and the other has almost no power. It also shows Asta, the main character, showing a strong desire to marry the nun, which is perhaps the only original thing given to him and it's barely original. They get their magic book thing and turns out, big surprise, Asta is actually powerful with this special thing called "Anti-Magic". This is definitely something basic and already starts the anime off with a moderate taste. A good anime with magic, like Re:Zero, at least throws in some sort of originality. Even if those anime include basic things, they use it to form the structure of a story which could be amazing, similar with how Neon Genesis Evangelion introduced itself as a mech anime then proves to be something entirely different. However, literally nothing original appears in this anime and it is mostly ideas that has been present in multiple other anime.
It quite literally goes downhill from this point onwards. It reaches the point where Asta arrives in this team which is full of oddballs, which I can't even fathom how unbelievably simple the plot is as it led to this. Literally every other character was made under the basis of being the most simple and unoriginal characters there are, some even being boring like Noelle. From this point, there has been little to no character development other than new powers gained, and you can't continue being interested in either Asta or Yuno because both of them are basic and boring as quite literally no character development occurs to them.
At this point, it's painfully obvious how the "power of friendship" is overexaggerated in this anime, or I believe it is. By episode 80 it just becomes downright boring until it led to the final battle with the elf cult thing, and it was a 4/10. The final battle was both expected and unexpected, but really just throwing in a demon and saying this guy's a dick who had nothing to do with anything yet he just arrived out of nowhere? That introduction was extremely lame, and the battle wasn't even interesting compared to actual interesting battles. One Piece has unbelievably slow pacing but at least the battles there are actually memorable and good, and they are very exciting once you arrive to them. In Black Clover, the battle with the furry guy was the most interesting and that's only because arguably the only good character, Finral (I remembered his name because he is quite literally the only person I found interesting in the entire anime, and not even by a lot.), was actually present in the battle and it was very moderate, which is practically a compliment for this anime.
By 145, it was in the midst of the Spade Kingdom arc, which is interesting but I completely gave up because I'd rather not watch this any more. It is considered the best arc in the anime, and that is such a stretch. Sure, it could be, but the only reason I can give is because they actually fucking introduced the power scale in this part. LITERALLY over 100 episodes later only to finally reveal the power scale, which is absurd.
I can't recommend this anime, characters aren't interesting at all and there are so much more anime which are way better. It is boring, and the worst thing that weebs do is tell people to watch more expecting they are patient. I was extremely patient, and it only led up to my burning hatred towards this anime.
