Imagine you are 15 and trying your best to express feelings to someone for the first time in your life. You like them, but you can't ever say that directly. You have friends, society, and you have to follow the rules.
What seems to be bullying — is just a way of telling someone: "I like you!" The boy is out of the girl's league, so how could she make him notice her without losing her friends?
Someone once said: "Lowe is War" and that's "kawaii" way to see it. Step-by-step characters open their feelings playing battleship but never acting like true enemies. The game is all about the perfect balance of humor and the first steps in understanding their sexuality.
What is "tsundere" in most anime? Usually, it's an immature person, which hurts others in the struggle to express their own feelings, hiding them behind the wall of anger and fears. But in this case, it's a delicate competition both of the characters like to play.
It's a live-action manga with amazing details, where a brave girl meets a dreamer, and they manage to grow their feelings like a cherry blossom spread its fragile perfume.
The overall storytelling style is base on a simple clip mind pattern, like Tom&Jerry without any great synopsis or a challenge. This light slice of life novella gives you the experience of eating your favorite treat in small portions.
The character animation is on another level. Nagatoro's face is (seems to be) what they spent all the budget on, and that totally worth it. You can pause every single moment of a close-up to enjoy a perfect composition and illustration. They have to create the sticker pack, and it will be one of the best sticker packs we have ever seen.
The OP theme soundtrack is OK, but nothing more, while OP animation is really a masterpiece. Simple and colorful, it gives the feeling of a 2000s teen sitcom, where everything is built mostly about the same story just like our title is.
The fan service is one of a kind, naturally integrated into the plot without a whiff of titillation but with great details. You can find references to some famous anime titles. They even play with breaking the fourth wall.
It's a great title to relax and giggle while diving into your high school memories or reimagine them in a better way. It will not make the 4th impact on your life, but it's a great title with a new and fresh approach to the tsundere character.
P.S. Gambare, gambare, senpai! Gambare, gambare, senpai! Gambare, gambare, senpai! Gambare, gambare, senpai! Gambare, gambare, senpai! Gambare, gambare, senpai!
