Fate/Zero
I wasnt honestly thinking so long about naming the review summary, i really feel like fate zero was about a guy who was dreaming his whole life... yes im talking about Kirtsugu Emiya. That doesnt mean that it was the only thing worth saying from this anime, so like usual, i want to first check the characters, i will try to cover up the main ones aswell as the ones i found interesting or worth noting and after that we will check main takeaways. Lets get right into it.
Saber
Saber in this anime for me wasnt probably as interesting as the other characters, with that said i still think there was one thing to note that Saber woke up to. Rider was the one who helped Saber with noticing it. Rider told Saber that she isnt a real king and that she is just a unlucky girl which just keeps fighting for her dream of saving britain in her time of ruling. He also pointed out that she shouldnt be so self sacrifical but rather tyrannical. From this point Saber till the end of the anime started to question if she ever really led her troops, if its her fault that britain at that time ended like it did and after seeing berserkers true face she was even more terrified and started to break. I barely remember saber in the unlimited blade works so i would say that i guess this is something anime could build up on there? Maybe i will need to give it a rewatch.
Irisviel von Einzbern
I felt like Irisviel was a character which added a very nice twist to the storyline, mainly at the end. It was really cool to see how the anime decided to build up and give value to a character which is supposed to be just AI. I really enjoyed Irisviels dedication to Kiritsugu Emiya and his dream.. she was able to help him with his unreachable goal.. but also at the end of the day this dream ate and destroyed her, was it worth it? I will let you to decide that.
Tokiomi Tohsaka
Tokiomi Tohsaka was one of the main blocks for the storyline, ofcourse not only in the fate zero time but also as a build up to other animes and movies with Rin Tohsaka and Sakura. If there was someone who looked to me like one of the most dedicated and prepared characters for the 4th holy grail war it has to be him. His preparation and trying to plan everything out was very fun and interesting to follow, with that said i believe this overthinking and planning everything to detail backfired and lead to his failure.
Kirei Kotomine
Kirei Kotomine was for me alongside gilgamesh the second most interesting character to watch... i personally think his personality and character was the most twisted one in the anime. For the most of the time watching him felt like he is always looking for something. It looked like he is giving up on that tho and just doing what he is told to do, this changed once gilgamesh started having chats with him. At that moment Kirei slowly but surely started seeking and doing decision not just which he was told to do, but the ones which seemed exciting, interesting or whatever emotion he could get. He was able to see Kiritsugu Emiya suffer like he wanted and he also was able to acquire the command seals. Since i first watched unlimited blade works, i dont remember being so interested in Kirei there, but after this anime i sure am invested in seeing more of him.
Kiritsugu Emiya
At first Kiritsugu looked to me like a empty guy which just wants to get the holy grail without much explanation.. i honestly thought he would be one of the most boring characters in the anime but this changed... Once they started revealing more about him and showing his past as a kid i was really invested. I really like how they builded up his character from his past to the present point in fate zero, i cant remember seeing anyone being so blinded by his unreachable dream of saving everyone. His dedication to it was really amazing, until the final episodes where it just seemed more and more crazy. It was basically this dream which got him into the position he ended in and it also was his destruction in the end. Maybe it is just me but i just really found this idea really interesting and fun to follow.
