Hello Again. Let's get straight into it ey?
Season 3 Part 2, ask me any day of the week and i will undoubtedly tell you this is the best of Attack on Titan. No hesitation, no doubt, tell me I'm wrong but I'm not. I adore this season. The entirety of the battle for Shiganshina is perfection, just the entry alone, everyone is hooded up Erwin on top of the walls and that shot as the entirety of the Survey Corps appears in the air behind him is almost as great as Endgame's final battle. Throughout the Season you can feel the tension, its the final battle and we know it, whatever happens here will pave the future ahead permanently for better or worse and unfortunately our characters are at a disadvantage pretty early on which makes for the looming sensation of a death occurring.
SO, the Beast Titan suddenly appears alongside a good amount of average titans blocking the Survey Corps inside Shiganshina, already the stakes are high and now it looks like there is a bigger plan than Erwin's. Armin the genius figures out the probable plan of theirs and the search for Reiner begins. When they find him, without hesitation already a death occurs on the soldier who discovered him but just as quickly Levi delivers his supposed death blow. This moment compeltly caught me off guard but showed that everything to come would be quick and instant.
I wont summarise the whole series as we have all watched it so yea. Anyways, the Thunderbolts are an amazing new weapon that again brings about an unexpected turn of events, the disadvantage that i assumed the Survey Corps had is now being evened out with a weapon of equal killing power. The entire fight against Reiner is amazing with so much tension and power in every scene. Then when it seems like a victory Bertholdt flies in with a goddamn nuclear blast. Thats how insane this Season is, a goddamn nuke goes off basically, suddenly it shifts again from a victory for Eren to a good proportion of soldier being killed including Moblit. Thank God Hange Survives tho.
The Colossal Titans entire fight is even more tense and powerful than Reiners because now both sides have lost people, or losing people. Bertholdt is shown in a compeltly new light, even getting a hit on Mikasa, catching me completely off guard. Then Armins Sacrifice occurs, a painfully beautiful scene that had me wondering what life was without him, the genius who longed to see the Sea was dying.
But oh no, none of these compare to the scenes outside the walls, Erens entire speech about dreams and the newbies preparing for death is super powerful and even watching it i knew it was death they headed towards but Erwin as always made it feel inspirational and that there was always a glimmer of hope. I mean, what a scene. AND THEN LEVI VS THE BEAST TITAN, brooooo what a scene, nothing more needs to be said right, its series of instantaneous and rage filled attacks that even the mighty beast titan falls beneath humanities strongest man. I was so hyped.
This Season not only is the most powerful action scenes but also most depressing because of deaths, we lose Marlo who i still now ache for not getting with Hitch, Erwin vs Armin was a painful moment as in your mind you know Erwin technically has more to offer through his command, but seeing the young boy we loved for his nerdiness, and hopes and dreams. Letting him die without seeing the Sea would be more painful than Erwin missing out on some books. But throughout the scene i had no idea the outcome that Levi would decide upon.
To wrap it up, the Season does what Season 2 did in less episodes, it blows the story wide open. We go from having finally reclaimed Shiganshina to learning that Humanity lives on and titans are not a worldwide threat, there are whole other races and more titan shifters. The entire backstory and plot that follows changes everything. I watched my theories crumble under the pure genius of the story that had actually been developed and gazed in awe at what i could never hope to conjure in my brain.
Finally, we end at the Sea and everything feels perfect, to be honest if it had ended there i would have been happy, knowing Armin got to see the Sea but oh no. Eren shows in that scene that he has already changed, and with just the point of a finger, the Attack on Titan we knew and loved, changed forever.
