Wow, I honestly dunno what to say about this manga. It's just mind-bogglingly good, I love a story that sticks a knife in your gut and twists it tastefully and this story does that spectacularly. I've never had such a good time having a bad time while reading a manga before, and I've read my fair share of depressing stories.
First of all let me just gush over the writing in this manga aight? There's so many parallels, so many plot threads and subtle nods to this and that and it leaves you on the edge of your frickin' seat man. And the suffering levels are through the roof, dear god. The main character and his ensemble feel like they live in a seedy twisted alternate reality because of the pure unfiltered despair everyone seems to just be writhing in on either a surface or hidden level and it's gorgeously done. I can't believe I blasted through nearly 75 or so chapters in just a couple of hours, this story left me in awe when I caught up and I just had to write a review about it. It's damn near perfect, just thinking about it as I was typing this up made my writing for it go up lmao.
Besides the story what else does this manga have going? Let's tackle two subjects really quick in just one paragraph, shall we? The art. Oh man, the art is spectacular, with some absolutely breathtaking characters in looks and writing, and the scenery and shot composition is god-tier. I feel like nearly every chapter has a double page spread that you or full page that you could make a background on your phone or computer. It's impressive.
So much for the two being one paragraph, but the characters man. They are so full of life and their own motivations that start off simple, or at first are deceptively straight forward then out of nowhere, man they hit you with a right hook and bullet to the head. Drama after drama after drama after drama, I try to keep my reviews spoiler free but for this manga to truly give it the love it deserves it seems like for my writing level I would need to and I don't want to do that, so let me tell you if you like the suffering levels in Berserk or Oyasumi Pun Pun you need to read this manga right now. It's better. And in my opinion, so much more well written. Sorry fans of those two, I'm not throwing shade. That's just my opinion and I want to show this manga some love.
Now here is one spoiler I want to throw in, and it may age poorly because of future chapters, but we'll see.
In manga like this, the authors tend to put the female love interest through the wringer and just all around make her suffer just to hurt the MC. I fully expected this going in, and I am very pleased to see the author is above that and his writing even ended up being so good I felt stupid for having my doubts.
I rate this a very solid 9/10, read it read it read it!!!
