Before I even start I have to say that this 10 is different from other 10's I might give. This piece of fiction is truly special. And no, One Piece is far from my first anime or manga so I don't wear my nostalgic goggles for this one.
But there is one problem.. length.. it's simply too short :(
I just wanna start with saying that One Piece is a ROMANTIC story (not talking about love here)
and it feels big and adventurous, more powerful character are often portrayed taller or bigger than weaker ones and Oda uses exaggeration masterfully.
The world building is amazing and colossal and can't be compared to any other manga, it has to be compared to the likes of LOTR and other staples of fiction. Oda's attention to detail is second to none and his mastery of paying off plot points is amazing.
Not to mention Oda is an absolute MASTER of mystery and perfectly holds back enough information to keep us guessing.
The world is flawed (just like ours) and complex and absolutely justifies the chapter count.
While Nen from HxH might be the best explained power system I feel like Devil Fruits are the most original one and those fruits really show off Oda's creativeness. There's some people that didn't like the introduction of Haki but Haki allowed Oda to crazy with Devil Fruits and that's why Haki is actually great.
One aspect many of the top selling manga have is likeable and memorable character and One Piece excels at that, and one of the things that Naruto and Dragon Ball got wrong is that the main character got all the attention, I always wanted more Team 7 action in Naruto and I wanted more Gohan and Trunks and Tien in DBZ but never got it but One Piece doesn't have that problem, all of the characters get their moments.
I guess One Piece doesn't have the BEST art (it's still extremely good) but what it does have is AMAZING character design, it just works so well! Each character's design is extremely well thought out and perfectly fits the personality of the character (I have to admit that girl designs aren't as strong and can be same-y but are still good).
Oda's balancing of goofiness and seriousness is flawless and it's almost hard to believe that it can be achieved so well.
There was literally an arc that had a whole really deep plot point that started from such a trivial and extremely goofy thing.
I often see criticism of Luffy's character for not having enough development and those people MISS THE POINT. It's all about Luffy changing the people around him and not the other way around.
When reading (or watching) One Piece don't look at the chapter count and don't rush to reach the end after all it's all bout the journey!
