_What you will love about the characters here is that you'll
actually feel their strangers at first. Its like youre the main
character in here._
Violet encountered people as a Doll. Different types of people even.
Since the main character here is surrounded by people she doesnt know,
she has to adjust to the way they act, their age, background and so forth.
Thats how we, the viewer, feel everytime we start an anime. We have no
clue who the people are and what we are about to face but because
the main character is at that same position, we are more engaged in
every episode. _That makes us empathize with characters we meet in Violet's journey.
That makes us more connected thus makes us emotional._
The setting in which the anime had taken place looks like a European culture type.
Its more like we are in the 80s on the first episode. No advance technologies and stuff
like that.
The war has just ended and Violet now has to learn how to continue on as a ordinary girl
and not as a soldier. In reality, after any war a city or a country faces, a lot
is going to change whether the country lost or won. Adjustments are needed for both
supporting characters and our protagonist. _The setting here makes it perfect for us
to examine the changes they are about to face_.

Violet will now face a different environment. It's sad to
hear that she was exposed to violence when she was young. Its more sad when we find out
she cant understand or distinguish emotions expressed by others around her. This
back story for our main character can make it difficult for her especially
as a Doll -- a job youre suppose to understand pure emotions.
What I like about the plot here is that its as simple as learning your alphabet. A girl
writing letters to people. Nothing special. No super powers. Just a plot that actual humans
faced. It makes the story more realistic and easier for us to empathize and connect our actual emotions to the story.
The conflict here is human vs human (the war). But its mostly main character vs self.
The more Violet sees to understand her sins in the past, the more she discovers
negative emotions. But the more she meet new friends, the more she feels pleasant
emotions. Its up to her if she wants to be pessimistic or not but because with the
good influence her friends had, she decides to continue with optimism.
She actually had a moment of struggle. A moment of realization that she had done horrible things in the past. Feelings of unworthiness. All of that emotions are necessary to complete the meaning of the show and that is human emotions/weakness.
I kept thinking what flaws does this anime have and I cant simply think of anything.
This anime taught me that even with Violet's proficient skills due to her military disciplined obedience, the lack of feelings of empathy, sincerity and love to others will make your obedience meaningless. Humans arent just made to perform tasks but to connect with others. Thats what sticked to me ever since I finished this beautiful anime.
I hope this helped you decide whether to watch this or not. :D
