Demon Slayer is filled with flaws and a ton of people seem to ignore it because the animation and fight scenes are amazing. Unfortunately for me, I can't look past Demon Slayer's flaws so I'm just gonna complain about it starting with the Tanjiro's plot armor.
In Demon Slayer's 2nd season we all saw Tanjiro run out of energy over and over, we also saw Tanjiro get his ass whooped by the demons who were obviously stronger than him, this is good, this builds tension and makes the anime fun to watch. But the author fucks it up right away but allowing Tanjiro to get right back up and fight. In 1 moment Tanjiro will be exhausted and he can no longer fight, a couple minutes later Tanjiro will somehow get a sudden boost in power and he continues to fight. This cycle is repeated over and over throughout this 11 episodes long season. This makes the anime predictable and the tension is no longer there because I know Tanjiro will get right back up after getting his ass whopped and the damage that was inflicted on Tanjro is practically useless. On top of having infinite stamina and somehow not being affected by injuries, Tanjiro will always get saved by the people around him. When you think someone is about to hurt Tanjiro really badly Zenitsu, Inousuke, Nezuko, or Uzui will instantly come out of nowhere and save him, there's nothing thrilling about this, this repeated cycle of Tanjiro always coming out on top makes the anime predictable and tedious for me.
Tanjiro isn't the only character who always manages to avoid death. Demon Slayer's 2nd season is filled with fake-out death moments. Inosuke will get stabbed by a poisonous dagger and somehow he isn't affected at all. Uzui is laying on the floor after getting stabbed and somehow in the next episode, he is perfectly fine. The demons will come very close to dying and somehow they will manage to avoid death. I came here to watch an anime but instead, I ended up playing a guessing game, by the end of episode 10 I was just so tired of this "will they won't they" bullshit the anime kept throwing at us. The constant "are they dead?" cliffhangers, Tanjiro random power boost, and Character fake-out deaths became really repetitive and ruined the tension that was built up in the first half of the anime.
One of the other things I don't like about Demon Slayer's 2nd season is how the author doesn't explain anything. How is Tanjiro gaining all this energy even after clearly being out of energy? How is Nezuko so strong even though she never ate a single human? When and how did Nezuko learn to transform into her form with a horn? I never saw a single scene of Nezuko training yet she can somehow do this and please don't come at me with some bullshit like "She was so angry and out of control she suddenly learned a new form" that's just dogshit writing. When did Zenitsu learn to be in full control of his sleep form? This man is just walking around and talking to people while being in his unconscious form and somehow this is supposed to make sense to us viewers. Ok. instead of showing all the unnecessary scenes like Rengoku dad writing a letter and the cute moments between Uzui and his wives the anime could've put in a couple of scenes showing us them practicing or training to perfect some of these abilities instead we just ended up with characters pulling bullshit out of thin air and it feels like the author is just improvising.
My final problem with the anime is the excessive amount of jokes and the unnecessary comic relief moments in the anime. Every battle Shounen anime has comedic moments and comic relief but I feel like Demon Slayer takes it to another level with the amount of joking moments in the anime. I feel like they can most definitely tone it down a notch. A lot of these jokes didn't really land with me because the timing was really off, to some the jokes may be funny to me the jokes were simply annoying. This isn't a new issue that was introduced in season 2 these out-of-place and unnecessary jokes have been around since season 1 and it was pretty annoying in season 1 and still continues to annoy me even in this season.
Just like Demon Slayer season 1, the Mugen Train movie, and the 7 episode long alternative version of the Mugen Train movie, Demon Slayer season 2 is insanely overhyped and overrated. BUT! by no means was this season bad in my opinion, I enjoyed watching this but I do think the fanbase needs to start looking past the good animation and start paying more attention to the actual story.__
