Wonder Egg Priority is a show that puts sensitive issues on the table, it's made to shock and being memorable, that's what i'm being told. And yeah, I agree, it does no doubt about it. But.. it doesn't solve anything, doesn't offer any solution to those problems.
What are does problems ? Mostly suicide, gender identity and sexual orientation. WEP is made to discuss over, it doesn't offer solutions, just provide a support to start debating.
Oh.. and i've haven't watch the special yet so im not talking about it, just the 12 episodes.
About this idea of shocking peeps, that reminds me a lot of Utena which is an anime that talks about sexual orientation, back in the 90s. Talk about a shock! One of the first, if not the first, anime talking about lesbian relationship but whatever.. here is not the post to talk about it.
This show also remind me a bit of Madoka Magica by some aspects : All the main characters are cute young teenage magical girls who fights against colourful monsters in order to save, the wonder girls here.
What I just said is exactly what the first part of the show offers us, no background story, just girls saving peeps who have difficulties in their life and having fun living their own at the same time.
And- then.. you've got the second part of the show in which they tried hard to come up with a complex plot to treat some other subject. The problem is.. they used ep 8 just to summarise the first half (for no reason??) and didn't had enough episodes to end the plot they just started to construct. ... Why? I don't know.. They could have use this episode to take more time to develop their idea, or simply start this complex background story earlier to avoid losing their audience.
This might be one of my only problem.. to start something this late and the fact that the end of this season is the beginning of another one. I don't mind the direction it took itself. Furthermore, I kinda understand why they took it, just that it didn't feel like a logical way to go or to do.
Just one more thing i wanted to talk about because I need to outsource my distress, sorry if for you it didn't matter. I don't understand that decision.. I can accept some things but.. they are things I just- can't.
"Girls talk" How much did I hated this sentence.. Even if most of the time I didn't really mind the fun parts in which they were having fun together.. There's a certain scene which always disturbs me so much..
Each of the main characters has their own problems they try to overcome. I'll go from the character who has, in my opinion, the least good writing to the best written.
Ai Ohto
Surprising I know. Even if she's got my least favourite writting, i really like her design and some aspects of her personality, but.. I don't really like that MC clishé of : I will impose my opinion on others even if they have not asked for it. I also have a few complaints about her writing.. Anyway.. I still really like her >.<
Neiru Aonuma
She's smart, gorgeous, silent, a real enigma. Somehow really sensitive even if she doesn't show it. She decide to fight for her own sake, or it's what she says and what I'd like to trust.
Rika Kawai
While watching the anime I just hated her, her personality even tho I generally appreciate honest person who says what they think same goes for her emotionalism that she sadly keep under a self-centred attitude. I appreciate character who has strong emotions but.. in her case.. meh. How she's that careful about the image she reflects and- and what it has led to.. urgh i wanted to slap her in the face!
But afterwards.. I actually appreciate her writing and what she can bring to people. She questions the consequences of her actions and struggles to try and fix her mistakes, although I don't think that's enough, I appreciate the effort she puts in it.
Momoe Sawaki
She's your pretty tomboy who acts cute and is asked out by girls ~~probably my favourite anime archetype~~ and even tho.. She tries her best to appear like a girl in society but.. she's still mistaken for a boy.. sigh
Before we go.. just me having a little complain about the general chara-design.. but was it really necessary to made them this thin? -_- I mean.. their legs are literally matches.

But other than that.. I really loved pretty much every design. All were oustanding! The use of flashy colour is always very appreciable(imo) I appreciate them all, except Rikka who felt really average (i know.. you would have thought abt Momoe as average but for me.. she's not), she just looks too much like most people in our world, I suspect it's on purpose but I don't particularly like it sorry Rika.
Neiru' braid with her tan skin and green-ish eyes~ really pretty and unforgettable. She doesn't need an extremely stand out outfit to shine.
Ai' heterochromia.. just that! Memorable and beautiful. Yellow suits her so well~ you know.. Yellow started becoming one of my favourite colour while viewing the anime.. for real. I dont' know if that feeling will lasts but.. I feel like it.
Momoe is just- gorgeous I love her so much than even if you told me she's plain and average.. I wouldn't care at all. I'm probably biased because of what she's in the story and i don't mind being biased.
Nothing to complain about. The OST is memorable and interesting enough. Probably in my top-10-5 anime OST. (i'm still pretty surprised to like all those musics that much even tho it's not really my type '-' )
About the OP and ED..
The OP starts so calmly.. As if you were still in a dream and started to emerge.
But that ED.. is so average TwT
