Yes I meant what I said in the title..

Grimgar is honestly saying still one of my favorite LN out of those I read, the writting is immersive, easy to comprehend, and has a very good pace as a read-through altogether..still.. it's TRASH okay let me explain why i call one of my favorites trash.

I'll start off saying that Grimgar in the beginning was GREAT like around vol 1-6 the pacing was great, the plot twist were great and the characters went through a lot of tough situations ..now something strange happened at vol 11(iirc)..this is a big spoiler so be warned

After Ranta left the party

the pace of the story started getting weird, random arcs started popping up ,random characters and random twist(I'm not saying Ranta is the cause of the story going like this okay I just observed the course of the story) I meant by random stuff I mean real RANDOM like straight up out of nowhere plot points with no build up at all Anyway I'm just list of some examples bc fk writing a long extensive review for this..(at least not now) Also all of these will be spoilers for the LN so read if you want to..

I'll start with the most annoying plot in Grimgar..Merry and Haru relationship.. their ship is just a mess, it started good first of all then the weird story pacing started and ruined everything,when you think their relationship is progressing the story straight up ignores anything happened prior and when you think some scenes should really progress it again the story ignores anything that happened .

What is the point of that reset plot btw like legit asking in a narrative perspective what tf is the point of that other than rush the ending of the story it was also pointless in the character writing aspect, Yes all those development gone ,disappeared Shihoru character literally went backtrack for some reason,Haruhiro mental development are gone (if his development prior were still there I'm confident he could have done a lot more in the raid and not be liability which he almost did btw completely out of character for him), Setora existence in the story literally have no meaning anymore bc her memory is gone and her point of joining the party was for Haruhiro anyway.

some character deaths that felt totally unnecessary ( ah yes bringing back characters just to kill them off)

Parano arc felt completely pointless when they even cut off Alice and that Shadow king kid, bruh literally half of that entire Parano arc was about Alice and other characters only in that arc to just completely cut them out of the story right after is just..bruh...wtf was the point of reading it if nothing means anything in the end anyway

So in summary Grimgar story writing around midway thru the story got wacky, pointless arcs , pointless characters, unnecessary deaths, always backpedaling the story, always forgetting anything that happened in the previous volumes..and despite all of that I still like it
