horimiya is an anime show done by clover works and is based on a manga of the same name done by Hiroki Adachi. it was made into an ova first then the season. just note that I haven't seen the ova so I can't comment much on it. honestly after watching spirited away and silent voice I thought the romance anime genre wasn't for me but horimiya completely changed that perspective for me. firstly I wasn't feeling the show, the first episode felt weird and I watched it in English dub, which doesn't help. this review is gonna be a little different from my other reviews but I think this concept is better so let's begin
# Story :
so let's begin with the story and it's pretty straightforward. it is just a really sweet wholesome show teaching us to never judge a book by its cover. it's just really sweet, there are some really cute moments and obviously, Souta is chad because if he never fell then they would have never met each other, just think of that, we all have to thank souta for providing us with such a good show to watch. yea and If I haven't already made it clear, I love this show. I just think everything works in its favour, the characters, the story, the animation, the ost everything is just what you'd expect from a great anime. but I do have to say tho, episode 7 did take me by surprise and if you've seen the show you already know what scene I'm talking about. I loved every scene that Miyamura and Hori were together in, they work very well together and it's just super wholesome. if I could describe this show in one word it would be super wholesome. I thought there were a lot of questions unanswered like toru and Yuki's relationship and the girl who came to study at horis's house, literally what happened to her. but still, this show is great.
# Characters :
I honestly think that every character is great apart from the green-haired glasses-wearing girl, I thought she was annoying but apart from her, every character is unique and amazing in their own way, especially Yuki and toru. they were great standalone characters as well as together I thought they were amazing and their chemistry is real. I think the jokes every character makes, land, not every time but most of the time the jokes land so the humour is on point
# Animation
so the animation is honestly fantastic, clover works did a great job animating this. every scene just looks beautiful and every character looks hot ngl
and I just think they hit the nail on the head in terms of the animation. there is usually nothing else to say about animation so ill just leave it at that.
# Extras
some things I may have forgotten to say like the music is just fantastic firstly the opening is a banger and so is the ending. the soundtrack works with the premise and it's just nice to listen to. I thought the green hair guy was also a good character and oh shit I forgot about Remi and Sengoku but I think the moment with them confessing to each other was fantastic and both of them individually are great characters. ok that's it for extras I'm sure I forgot a lot but let's just move on.
# Summary
in conclusion, this show is fantastic. the animation is top-notch, the story is good, the music is good and the characters are great but the ending made me want more and I hope there is a second season because I want that so bad. don't get me wrong the ending was wholesome but it just came out of nowhere and I wanted way more. well, that's it for my review for horimiya. see ya. bye48 out of 55 users liked this review
