I took one look at the cover art 2 years ago and fell in love with the webtoon. I started reading it but it became a bit boring after a while, the story taking its time to develop. Then this year I decided to start the webtoon again and I was most definitely hooked.
Firstly, the art style is something that is so visually appealing. When the panels are in depth and have that sparkly charm, it just such a beautiful piece of art that I feel like is normally skimmed over.
(waa look at the sparkle and eyes ⊂(♡⌂♡)⊃)The story line itself was basic enough, nothing original but there were some twists that kept you engaged. What kept me scrolling (personally) was the art style and potential love story between Yeeseul and Yueseong. I'm a sucker for romances and the webtoon is advertised as a romance.
I was wrong. Straight up lied to.
Yes, Yueseong admits his feelings and there's this whole thing about him liking Yeeseul but that interfering their work relationship. But I kid you not, that is the last you see of their romance. We get hints that Yeeseul likes him back with random thoughts like 'why am I suddenly thinking of him' or stuff like 'all I could think about was him'. An absolute let down when nothing more comes from this. Other than the main leads, there was a really cute relationship between two of the other contestants who struggled with their age gap. They had me feeling all sorts of emotions, however, they were the only couple that was really featured (excluding that horrible toxic mess involving Yeeseul's ex, gross). It just hurt a lot when we get an open ended ending where Yueseong causally greets Yeeseul. It does not really suggest a relationship between them that is more than friends but because of how the story ended viewers are left confused about whether or not a romantic relationship did occur between the two. Overall, the potential romance between the female and male lead was just deceiving and a sad ending that was abrupt and confusing, especially since it is a romance webtoon. I have no idea how else to put the sadness and frustration I feel into words, I just wished the ending was different and the relationship was elaborated on so there was more of a satisfying feeling.
I did like the development of the story and messages conveyed, however, there was more that was expected and it feels like the story was cut off early because it was not delivered.
It feels like wasted potential, would recommend for the art style but not really for anything else.
