Originally, I just simply thought that the Cover-Art looked cool when I saw it featured in "The Anime Man's" manga collection video. But once having actually READ THE SYNOPSIS from this website, I was INSTANTLY hooked!

# The stage of Valhalla is set for the ultimate battle of Mankind's survival for another 1,000 years...! THE BATTLE OF RAGNAROK!

I immediately wanted to search the internet for as much of the series already translated (Because independent, but immediate translators VS. God knows HOW LONG before the OFFICIAL PHYSICAL translated versions) as I could. And even though it started off KIND OF SLOW AND GENERIC... Once the first LOSER was revealed at the end of the first round, it honestly started to get me interested.

With the first match ending in the first HUMAN-FIGHTER losing and even the GRUESOME way that the was even EXECUTED by the first GOD-WINNER, via; brutal arm-bludgeoning and head-decapitation...! It honestly started to get interesting with the Humans already on their "Back-foot"...!
And, given what is officially told as the CONSEQUENCES of LOSING in tournament...! Regardless, once the SECOND ROUND was set to be BASICALLY the two most POPULAR AND WELL-KNOWN HISTORICAL figures from either "Human" OR "God" history: "Adam" vs. "Zeus", it REALLY started to get good...!

Also with the Humans losing, BUT this time with the "Original" Human dying WHILE having shown the versatility and resilience that Mankind truly has to stand a chance in fighting in the Tournament giving hope to all of his descendants for the rest of the Tournament to follow that they can win....!
Now with also starting to know the PERSONAL STAKES that the FIGHTERS have for winning or losing, as well as meeting new characters that also know give their OWN interesting outlooks on each battle, given what THEY know about the Fighters': Characters, Personal Combat Skills/Methodologies, AND their Potential.
A very clever twist in the series as a whole, on the other-hand, actually comes in its MAIN CHARACTER: Brunhilde "Eldest of the Valkyrie Sisters". Even though the series is quite ENTIRELY focused on the strongest MALE Gods fighting against the strongest MALE warriors from all throughout time and history on Earth, Brunhilde acts as the Main Character by causing an uproar in the "Council of the Gods" Hall by suggesting the whole "Ragnarok Tournament to begin with as she calls the Gods out for cowering-out of fighting the Humans for THEIR RIGHT to live for the next 1,000 years...! And because of the Gods' short-tempers (As a stratagem by Brunhilde, AS WELL), she gets the Gods' approval for the Tournament...! Along her side from the beginning of the series, all the way to Currently-Being, is "Poetically" here YOUNGEST Sister: Goll. As Cool, calm, and collective as Brunhilde's personality shows her to be, especially with her hatred towards the Gods of her own, leads to her being quite ferocious when in confrontation against a God, HERSELF, or just being strategic and cool towards to Human-Fighters that she does select to fight in the Tournament, her youngest sister Goll is.... THE COMPLETE OPPOSITE...! "Panicked" and "Frightened" are the two MAIN words to describe the youngest Valkyrie: Goll, in the this series. For all of Brunhilde's confidence in secretively knowing where and how the Tournament is going, Goll is completely frightened and easily excited by whatever turns that events take. With Brunhilde informing whoever is with her, Goll is usually always there as the Comic-Relief for Brunhilde (Or other characters') jokes or novice if something needs to be explained or informed about. Unless, BTW, the scene has to due with the GODS, then the Comic-Relief is usually Ares.

But it IS quite, damn interesting that the Main-Character, and partner, of a series about "Man-vs.-Man" fighters of "Human-vs.-God" proportions really centers around the pro-activity and efforts of a woman-angel just trying her best to protect those deer to her....
Meanwhile, the REST of the Valkyrie Sisters do THEIR PART in assisting their Eldest sister in the Tournament, as Brunhilde already knows that the Gods, as just BEING "GODS", are ENTIRELY on a level that Human-Warriors could NEVER hope to reach as they are as just MORTALS, so she decides to have ALL of her sisters, most-likely including herself at the end, use a sort of "Holy-Technique" to bond with whomever Human-Fighter they choose and thus, become a WEAPON, MOST-FITTED FOR THEIR HUMAN-WARRIOR...! Unfortunately, at the beginning of the series as the fights only last about 2-3 chapters to START-THE-SERIES-OFF, the Valkyrie Sisters don't really get much, if ANY time to be fleshed-out as their out characters. I don't fault this at all as the series obviously DOES need to get to the "Main-Event" if it is to stand-out against its competitor Manga/Comics from the same Industry, BUT just like how the stories of the different FIGHTERS gets more involved and fleshed-out to each other, so do the Valkyrie Sisters' personalities as they are shown to interact, at LEAST, a LITTLE BIT before the actual Fight happens, or the Human-Fighters and Valkyrie are show to mentally interact WHILE fighting their opponent, EVEN IF IT'S TO SHOW HOW MUCH THEY MUTUALLY TRUST EACH OTHER...! The designs of the different Valkyrie Sisters ALSO indicate their character quite a little bit, whether by being "Childish" or "Switching between one personality and another", or even just having a defining physical-trait like a hairstyle or glasses or something.

On the other-hand, even a GOD can bond with a human as Zerofuku does with Buddah to defeat Hajun at the end of THEIR battle! What, with all of this being a Technique that BUDDAH did originally discover for himself and decided to teach Brunhilde and her sisters for the Tournament

Another thing to mention is how each match seems to follow a "Storied Theme" for its fighters... such as the first round being set-up entirely just for the series to show-off the enormous power of its fighters, the 2nd round being about the the "Fathers" of both the "Human" and "God" worlds showing both their similarities and differences in how they've learned from each other and how strongly one wants to protect his loved ones, the 3rd round starting the trend of difference between its fighters with the "Tyrant of the Seas": Posiden vs. "World's Greatest Loser": Sasaki Kojiro in an ultimate "Underdog" fight. The next match (4th round) of Jack the Ripper vs. Heracles being the fight to show the best of all humanity in the ONE man who ACTUALLY BECAME a God fighting one of the Humans' most VILE criminals, and so-on and so-forth onward as further into the Tournament, the relations between the Fighters seems to fall between either: Both characters having a PARALLEL between each other, or having a complete DIFFERENCE from each other in some way.
Also, for some reason, there being a HUGE twist in endings for a few of the matches.

That being for when one of the HUMANS WINS! Examples being: Kojiro being the "Greatest Loser" actually WINNING his fight, Jack the Ripper winning his battle but Heracles winning the moral battle about humanity, etc..

One really cool thing is also how the Fighters FIRST ARRIVE in the ring, as even their ENTRANCES are very huge and show the importance of each of the Fighters and their influences in Real-Life.

...Or they could be like Zues and just simply enter the Arena completely having fun and dancing to another God playing an instrument just for the fun of it!

Whether it be a Thunderous-Storm raging to indicate a ruthless God arriving, a stampede of all of Life's living creature to show-off a figure from Time's Beginning, a Masked-Figure in the Shadows to portray a sinister being's presence, Or any ARMY of Loyal-Followers before the ACTUAL Fighter arrives in a SPECTACULAR FASHION FOR HIMSELF!

Meanwhile, starting at Round 6, the WHOLE TOURNAMENT'S "STATUS-QUO" GETS SHAKEN UP HARD! With potential betrayals, characters seeming to be even SHADIER than they should be ALLOWED to be, and even UNINVITED GUESTS partaking in the Tournament AS WELL!

Lastly, side-notes:
1. The "Drip" (That being "FASHION") is FREAKING AWESOME AND FANTASTIC...! With not only the Side-Characters having extravagant fashion that COMPLETELY suits their own personalities and era/environments' trends, BUT THE FIGHTERS ARE JUST SIMPLY STUNNING TO LOOK AT...! What, with them ALREADY being the MAIN DRAW-IN for the series already, but how their powers ALSO interconnect with their FASHION sometimes TOO!

2. The "Uniformity" of the series' volumes when released is SPECTACULAR with the simplistic design usually of the two current Fighters directly standing-off against each other. All volumes can be viewed from Comicvine.com
[link ](comicvine.gamespot.com/shuumatsu-no-walkure/4050-110977/)
3. Although not EVERYTHING about this series is great, the fact that it is a "One-and-done" style Tournament Arc. DOES mean that NO fighters have a second chance to shine in the series once their turn is over, plus since there is no "Set Bracket", it is very difficult to theorize how the REST of the series will proceed.
4. ALSO awesomely though, the same author also giving us a SPIN-OFF manga, STARRING the first Human-Fighter of the series back in his original life just to show off how that he is BASICALLY
"HUMAN-GODZILLA"...!

5. Also, WHY does "Greek" Mythology get to have TWO Gods in control of the "Afterlife": Valhalla? Meanwhile, the OTHER 2/4: "Norse" and "Hindu" only get ONE leading representative!? Seriously, what is up with that? I get that you need to have SOME REPRESENTATIVE for the UNDERWORLD, but they even CLARIFY that they have Hades as the Underworld's KING AND ITS "7 PRINCES", AS WELL! BUT STILL, WHY ISN'T IT THE FOUR MOST FAMOUS RELIGIONS' TOP-GODS in charge of HEAVEN and the KING WITH HIS 7 PRINCES in charge of HELL?

BUT, hopefully the serious WILL answer that personal question of mine.
Finally, I can't WAIT to see what Round 7-Onward has with "China's Fist Emperor": Qin Shi Huang. Fighting "The King of Hell": Hades. And how the rest of the series will proceed!
