● For this review, I'm considering only the Omoide Emanon. Ignoring the existence of Sasurai Emanon, which is a further developed version with more volumes.

The Story ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ A young man is taking a ferry boat. He brought a sci-fi book to pass the time during the 17-hour trip. While he is resting and reading. A mysterious woman approaches him and, confirming that he is a sci-fi fanatic, decides to tell him her story. The story of Omoide Emanon is okay. You know the feeling when you have a good idea and write something short just to keep that idea alive? That's how it feels to read this work. Even on the afterworld (9.5), the author talks about how this story was born in one of his travels.I think that a better way to approach this story is not by thinking that it is a manga but instead, a "long one-shot". I say this because during the 9 chapters you're presented with one story and there's no big development, no side characters.

The Art Style ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ The art style on Omoide Emanon is really pretty. As the manga is focused on showing you the idea, the art really gives a thoughtful and comfortable vibe. There are many panels without dialogue, in which you just observe the scenario and try to feel more than think.
The character designs are good. The proportions, angles, expressions, and effects (such as wind blowing on hair) are well done. The background, shadows, and everything else are also good. There's nothing for me to complain about in this department.

The Characters ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ There are two characters in this work. The mysterious woman and the student. I feel the focus of the work is more in regard to the idea. They're not extremely developed, but it's not like they're bland either. As I always like to add a few comments in regards to the main characters. The mysterious woman is interesting enough to keep you reading. By checking the after-world, you can get a deeper idea of what the author wanted with her creation, and I think it fits. Her personality adds to the thoughtful and calm vibe of the manga.

Conclusion ════ ⋆★⋆ ════ If you're like me, you skip everything and read only the conclusion because you don't want to get spoiled with other themes. So I will try to be brief on this point:Maybe read it. If you like sci-fi and want to see a concept idea, I really think that is good work. I'm personally fond of sci-fi, so I liked it, but I can see that it's not for everyone.22 out of 23 users liked this review
